Baby surviving car accident...

I got hit by an 18 wheeler 4 days ago and my SUV flipped about 5 times. My 4 year old daughter was with me and I am also 19 weeks pregnant. My daughter came out perfectly fine and I just have some bumps and bruises and anxiety of course. They did ultrasounds and kept meon the maternity floorfor a little over a day to moniter the baby. Everything came out fine and the baby seems to be fine. The Dr. says that sometimes you can't see a torn placenta or one that is detaching on an ultrasound, so I am still worried. The baby's heartbeat is good and he is still moving around good.

I was just wondering if anyone else had anything like this and continued to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. Thanks.

Well, i wasnt hit by a truck, but i was kicked, and my placenta was torn. They couldnt pick it up until almost my due date. i complained about the pain in the spot where it was torn/lifting for weeks but it wouldnt show up. it would fee like a cramp from running .

well they induced me at 36 weeks, but she was alright. she was small, 6 poundsa 2 ounces, and my amniotic fluid was "foul smelling" meanig the start of an infection. maske sure to see your doctor often.

Wow, I'm really glad you & your daughter are okay. I imagine your doctor is going to keep a close eye on you for the duration of your pregnancy. Definitely bring up any concerns you have, no matter how small they may be, to your doctor at your appointments that way they can monitor you carefully & hopefully prevent anything bad from potentially happening.

that's crazy! I'm glad you guys are okay! My friend got into 2 car accidents (not as severe as rolling 5 times though) while she was pregnant--one in the first trimester & one in the third trimester. Her daughter came out perfectly fine. Hope all goes well!

Talk to your doctor about more frequent visits and what signs ou should look for that might cause concern.

I wasn't in the car accident but my fiancé's mom works with a girl who was and she got beat up pretty bad. She's got scars on her face and a big scar from a cut on her arm and she's still going strong with her pregnancy. :]. Good luck!

oh so glad to hear that you are ok! and your daughter...man, i bet you are a ball of nerves. i dont have any first hand experience, but like everyone else said, i would try to get my dr to up my appts to every two wks or something, and make sure you call if you feel like something is "off"

Wow! You and your daughter and baby must have angels...

Thanks everyone for the sweet notes! We definitely had angels with us. I'm going to check with my Dr. to see about more frequent visits and signs of any problems that might occur. Thanks!
