They have a boxed henna, I just can't recall the brand.

Think of it as a dye, literally, for your hair.
It's semi-permanent, which means it will was out in 8-12 washes.

Who told you that it wasn't safe? It doesn't have any of the chemicals in it.

Well, my midwife was very much a naturalist, and she suggested henna, but said they have never done extensive tests on it to be POSITIVE that it can or cant hurt the baby, and I refused to do ANYTHING at all that even had a millionth of a chance of hurting my child in some way- So this fell into that category. If i saw the test results that proved it was okay, then i would have done it, but they have never done tests, so it kind of makes you wonder of the result, know what i mean??

I was really really concerned about that sort of stuff...So my treat after having Adina was getting my hair done at the salon   It was lovely...no hair dye for 9 months...uugghhh...But it was well worth it.

Plus, that stuff would never stay in my hair anyways, my hair doesnt keep non-perm color well. Some permanent colors wont even stay in my hair, oddly enough.

I love you for being so open and patient with our questions.

I have another one that may be an ignorant stereotype but I wonder if it is common and true, or more like the suicide bomber thing (a few people making a bad name for the religion)

Is it really common for men to marry 9 year olds?

Im so embarrassed for seeming so ignorant, my husband told me that he heard it's ok to marry 9 year olds because Mohammad did.

I get what you mean.
I wouldn't do something if it had any chance of hurting my baby.

The only reason that I know what's safe hair wise, is because I went to Beauty School.
Boxed color is safe anytime during your pregnancy. Just don't eat it, lol.
Same goes for Henna.

I've never heard that one before.

I know you're not asking me the question, but I don't see it as ignorant. You're curious- that's all!

From wikipedia about his wives:

Aisha was six or seven years old when betrothed to Muhammad. She stayed in her parents' home until the age of nine, when the marriage was consummated in Medina.

I know times have changes drastically, So I was wondering if that was still okay for them to do and if they still did that.

  Thank you!

Nobody knows exactly how old she Aisha was when she married him. What we do know is that she had not yet had her period thus the reason that she lived in her parents home. They consummated the marriage after she had her period which would more than likely make her around 12-14 an age when it was normal for girls to get married around the world at that time. The fact that she was already married is but never acted like it since she was too young is more like she was promised to him, know what I mean?
Now in order for any marriage to be legal a few things HAVE to take place. First and foremost the bride has to give her consent. Then there is the dowry that has to be paid to her, nobody else, just her. Also there are the witnesses that have to be present.
Aisha became one of the most incredible wives of the Prophet and so much of what we know is credited to her.
Now fast forward to present day. Islam, much like any other religion doesn't put an age on marriage, it just says that all parties must be able to understand marriage and agree or disagree. It is up to the laws of the land to set up the age requirements. It is absolutely NOT the norm for a man to marry a child bride. We, as a community, cringe when we hear about it. When it does take place it is usually in tribal areas where their ways of thinking are still (IMO) barbaric. They also don't educate women, something that the Prophet made a big deal about, educating everybody equally and giving women their rights of owning land, businesses, voting, inheritance, you name it. As a matter of fact, his first wife Khadija was older than him by around 10 years and he worked for her in her business and it is said that she was his most beloved.
Ok, I'm kind of going off on a tangent now  If you need me to elaborate at all on anything, please let me know

i def. agree with this! im sorry but i dont stare or make jokes when i see people dressed in this manner but it does scare me bc i dont know if there is a weapon or gun or anything else under there that could cause me harm.

everyone dresses how they choose its a freedom we all have but ive seem many a people get stopped, searched and harrassed for wearing less coverup than that. i dont think its all too fair but thats just me
