I recently bought a gorgeous dancing scarf!! I love the way it sounds even when I'm walking
It is weighted wonderfully and has a butt-ton of coins and purple/silver beads on it!

OOH! that sounds beautiful...
I need to buy one...But i dont have a lot of money to spend, so im not quite sure where to go online to get one cheap...If you have any suggestions, i would love to hear them!

I am in love with my costumes...but i would love to get a more traditional type...

Just curious, I know with a lot of belly dancers in the USA, we tend to only want a woman who has no fat on her, and the most manly figure possible, What does your culture say about female belly dancers?? Ive always been told that its better to have womanly figure and that its not a shameful thing to have stretch marks from your children...But here in the US, everyone seems to think the opposite...It makes me feel ashamed...I am not a twig, and even with hourglass measurements im still considered fat here...

Well here it is more of an artform, not like there where it is mostly just to look at the women. Here it doesn't matter really but I've never seen a really skinny one ever.
Here's a great example of a belly dancer here

Im that size myself...So that makes me feel so much better.

For me, its not a sexual thing really, its about making me feel better about myself. Ive always hated my looks...Everything...but with BD I feel so much better...I have found a new love for myself with it...And its even helped to improve my marriage

Im glad I dont need to cover up my stretch marks, I am proud of them, and proud of my daughter, so i dont care what anyone thinks. There is no shame in being a mother

Honestly, I still catch myself envying skinny girls, but thats not me...Im fat for this country- 38-25-38...But i dont care. I just try to see it as Im "normal" for REAL belly dancing...how can you belly dance without a belly?? teehee

Right a belly and some serious hips   The picture in my avi is actually part of my scarf   It is really pretty. I've found them on ebay for about $10 but I'm not sure if they are good or not.

Most of the fabric choices are light.

I thought they were heavy and just a big ball of heat.

My neighbour wears one. She wears it by choice too. Her husband, much like yours, gave her the option to do it or not. I think it's sweet that she does because she says it's part of her life, so why should she not do something that makes her who she is.

Do you ever get to just lunge around in PJs without a shower in front of your husband?

Yeah, but usually I prefer to be naked   Inside our homes we are just everyday normal like you.

No, you're not supposed to, however we're not perfect   The whole idea is to only accentuate your beauty for your husband not others, wearing make up in public kind of voids that.

My Boyfriends mother wore natural Kohl (sp?). Not the brand, though.

Also, she wasn't allowed to color her hair with for instance, boxes from Walmart.
She had to use Henna.

Ugh...I wouldnt be able to handle that...Id never step foot out of the house if i couldnt wear makeup....I hate myself with or without it, so it would be much worse without any on...id be ashamed.

Although, i like the idea of it being just for your husband, but i wouldnt go THAT far...Makeup isnt a big deal to me...clothing on the other hand, THATS a big deal for me personally.

Like the other day, on halloween, hubby was upset with me for going out in my costume to the grocery store for a few minutes...I had no idea until i got home...I felt so guilty.....

Hmm, THAT I could live with...I could handle just kohl, at least...And henna color isnt too bad, I dye my hair a lot though, so it would never work for me, lol.

I was given the option to use it when i was expecting, but i decided not to since it could have hurt the baby. So ive never gotten to use it. just the boxed stuff.
