little one not drinking.....

posted 14th Aug
ok so i have posted a ton on here in the last 2 weeks. My Scarlett is having a lot of problems...but no one seams to know what they are exactly. for the last 2weeks she seams to have pain when she eats along with a huge list of other things. Since lastnight her drinking has gotten really bad. We took her to the doctor today and she gave us some soy formula to try. Well that was at 11am. It is 5:30 know. Since 11pm lastnight she has only drank about 2 hole bottles total, about 15-20 oz. She seams hungry but screams when you put the bottle in her mouth. We tried 2 types of bottles and are getting nowere. I know this new formula might take some time but i was wondering at what point should i be worried that she will dehydrate? I mean i am already worried that she is dehydrated and i keep trying to feed her a little at a time but it isn't working.

Also she hasn't pooped since tuesday night at about 8pm. It is Thursday at 5:30pm.

Have you tried switching types of bottles you use? My DS had horrible problems with all hard-sided bottles but got much better once I switched him to the Playtex drop-ins. Also, have you tried Mylecon gas drops? DS got those several times a day when he was very young b/c he'd get gas build up and it would make him miserable. I'd try those two things first and see if they help. We also had to switch DS from milk based formula to soy based (we used Enfamil ProSobee Lipl and it made such a difference! I think it took him a few days to get back onto a good track tho with it.) Hang in there momma!

they don't have drop in bottles here in germany. Or none that i have found. like i said i have tried 2 diffrent types of bottles. Also we are beyond gas. She has had EVERYTHING there is to treat gas and it is not just that. I still give her drops with every bottle for good measure. Her doctor said we should give this soy formula the weekend to work but i am worried she will get very dehydrated over the weekend.

If she's still peeing regularly and crying tears she's not dehydrated yet. Just keep an eye on that.

Are you military affiliated? I lived in Germany for 3 years and just moved back to WI in Feb '08. I always got my bottles at the PX, they had the drop-ins there (at least our crappy PX did). Other than that, I really don't have a lot of suggestions. I didn't do much baby shopping on the economy due to the exchange rate sucking so bad.

i will keep an eye on the tears. But she is still so little she hasn't started with tears very much yet. She did have a wet diaper just a little wile ago though. I will look out for that.

And no i have nothing to do with the military. Were in Wisconsin are you from? i lived my whole life in Lake Geneva. South Eastern Wisconsin.

I'm up by Green Bay...Appleton to be specific. What brings you to Germany? Which part are you living in? We were near Frankfurt. I miss it
