Infection from hang nail TMI

I swear to goodness I learned my lesson about picking and pulling at them! I pulled one about 2 days ago, and noticed yesterday that my finger/nailbed was so swollen, and then today it looked like it had green stuff in it. I kept trying to squeeze the stuff out? but ended up going to urgent care. They said it's really common, but this is the most disgusting thing that has ever happened not to mention they had to stick a 3 inch needle in it to numb me, then slice my finger open with scissors. I'm in so much pain over something so stupid! omg..
