Really concerned

Today I took my son with me shopping and there was this little girl who was eleven months old and she was walking! I am really discouraged because my son is 12 months old and he can't walk. He doesn't even crawl well. I mean he crawls, but he has a hard tim doing it on all fours. He army crawls. Now he can pull himself up and stand and he can walk if you are holding his hands or if he is in his walker, but he can't walk by himself yet. Is this bad? I mean should he be walking by himself now? I just don't want him to be behind. When did your kids start to walk by themselves?

my SIL says her daughter started walking when she turned 1 yr old, and her son is 14 months and just started walking. Every baby is different =)

seth was walking at 11 months. his brother just turned 10months and isnt as interested in walking like he was at this age.

every baby is different he'll walk when he wants too

My first was 10-1/2 months and my second was over 14 months. My youngest isn't the most coordinated kid but he's fearless and will jump and climb with the best of him now that he's two.

This kid I watch during the day is 16 mths old and he just started to walk like a mth ago. I wouldn't worry until he is like 18 months or so, but it sounds like he will sometime soon. Try giving him push toys and what not. He will catch on. All babies develop differently. My daughter was walking at 9 1/2 mths while my cousin's daughter wasn't walking until 13 mths old.
You'll be glad that he held off for so long when he actually starts walking LOL

I didn't walk until almost 20 months...   I was getting carried around so much I didn't want to I guess... I wouldn't be concerned.

Have you talked to the pedi? For some reason I do believe that by 9 mths they should be able to roll over. Just to let you know I am not trying to tell you how to parent or anything and I don't want you to get mad. I just for some reason remember reading somewhere that they should be able to roll by like 7 or 8 mths and if not then there might be a problem)

So I shouldn't be worried. I just get discouraged when babies younger than him are taking their first steps. Now he will walk with a push toy but you have to have your arms around him while he is doing it.

my friends daughter just started walking and she is 20 months... what we did with our son was just let him learn on his own cause everytime we tried to help him he thought it was a game and wouldnt do it.... we also let him fall... we werent behind him every second catching him everytime he crashed... unless of course he was going to get seriously hurt
