Belly Bands

posted 13th Aug
I'm due January 20th, and I'm at the stage where I'm barely showing, but I've outgrown my favorite jeans.  I'm interested in trying out belly bands.

Anyone recommend a specific brand?  Any pros and cons to belly bands?  Hopefully I can order some online.

Thanks in advance!

i managed to pull another month or two out of my pre-pregnancy jeans with the belly band... i started by just putting them over my jeans and leaving the button undone. eventually, i started using a hair tie to connect the hole to the button and left more and more of the zipper down. but to be honest with you, the belly band was more uncomfortable than anything. it would roll up, it was too tight and it never stayed where i put it. it's a tough move from regular pants to maternity pants, but once you find that one pair that you love, you'll never go back.

my recomendation, buy one... hang on to those jeans as long as possible, but get your ass to the maternity stores to try one maternity pants... i think i only made the belly band work for so long because that's how long it took to find a pair of jeans i liked.

I got one from motherhood. It was $16. I think they call it a "tummy sleeve"
I wore it during my whole pregnancy
it's nice for when you're huge and your shirts start to get to small and your belly hangs out of the bottom,
you can put it on under your shirt and it looks you you have a longer shirt underneath

oh and it's also nice after you have the baby becuase it holds in your loose skin and love handles   haha

I highly recommend the Baby Be Mine belly bands. http://www.babybeminematernity.com/

I've never used Bella Bands, but they are made from nylon and spandex (both of which bother my skin), and the Baby Be Mine ones are made from viscose and elasthane. They also have some that are now available made from bamboo. In any case, I loved my belly bands and even find myself wearing them sometimes still at 4 mos pp!

You can get some that are cheaper at Motherhood Maternity or Target... [They're half the price of a Bella Band]

I even used my belly band to cover the ugly blue band on my maternity jeans. It just looked like I was wearing a t-shirt under my shirt, and allowed me to be able to avoid buying too many maternity shirts.

Those ones work too, but I found they were a lot shorter than the bands I used, and I had a more difficult time getting them to stay where I put them (hence why I didn't use them very often). JMO

I actually found some on Ebay (Brand New) and they seem to work great, i just barely had the need for them. I got 3(black, white, neutral) for only 25.00 free shipping, they were here in 3 days... I don't know how they compare to other brands, but so far I have no complaints.

I did some research and decided to give the Baby Be Mine bands a try first.  I got 2 in Size 2.  The reviews were good, and they were a couple dollars cheaper than the Bella Bands.

Thanks for the help.  I'm excited to give these a try!!
