Fell down the stairs
posted 13th Aug
Hey ladies
Been a while since I'm been active on here. Lol. Thought I'd update.
So Ayla just turned the big ONE, and got a lotta gifts, two cakes, three parties, omg....she was bouncing off the walls. Then about four days later, she had a nice fall. I was looking through my unfolded laundry in the living room, Ayla by my side, of course; I turn to the side to make sure she was still there, and she disapearred! All the sudden I hear a BOOM BOOM BOOM, and she had rolled down a long flight of stairs to the basement!!! My DF was down there, he had failed to shut the basement door, so of course she was curious. He luckily caught her at the last step, so she didn't hit the cement wall at the end. I called the paramedics, and they didn't find any damage. A day later she had developed three bruises, two on her head, and one on her ribcage.
I was so upset over this...you don't even know. I thought I'd lost her.
She is 100% okay now, though. She is ALMOST walking!! I should post the b-day pix soon!!

Reminds me of the time when my brother was going down the basement steps, he fell from the top right down to the bottom. He was eating on the way down and wasn't paying attention to the steps. When he got to the bottom, he picked up his food and continued eating. My other brother yelled from the top "is he dead yet?" And then there was this time he was playing on the couch and fell off onto the tile floors. He ended up with a big bruise smack in the middle of one of his cheeks. It's amazing what kids do and what happens to them but they don't get hurt like if we did.
Glad to hear she's okay. Happy birthday to her!

That must have been scary! Adam fell down the basement stairs when he was about seven months old. My husband didn't know he moved so fast and ran downstairs to grab laundry and when he came back to the doorway, Adam was halfway down, paused on a step and then fell the rest of the way. I was glad I missed the whole thing or I would have probably had a heart attack.

OH My Goodness! I am glad she is ok. That happened to my daughter too when she was like 2 1/2. We just moved and my husband left the door open on the way down the stairs. I was in the bed room and all I heard was BOOM BOOM BOOM and heard her crying. Luckily, too, my husband litterally caught her by the head as she was about to hit the cement floor. I am so glad he was there to catch her. I never felt so glad to hear her cry because it meant something worse didn't happen.

Oh my god, that must have been terrifying! I am so glad she is ok! The sound of your child falling is so unmistakable! When Ava fell off of my bed one morning when I was SO tired and snoozed off again (thank god we have carpet floors), I DARTED out of bed without a split second of hesitation bc I just KNEW what that sound was! It's so scary and you can't help but blame yourself...
