Cutting it close???

posted 13th Aug
I currently live three hours away frommy mom. With Elliot joining the family and me being a mostly single mom my mother wants me to move closer to her. She/we have been somewhat actively looking for a house for me in her area. But I am entering my nesting phase and with only 10 weeks left and NO where to call home, I am getting anxious and stressed. I am worried about not getting a place in time to set up a nursery and stuff and I hate it. If he comes at all early, I'm basically SOL. Also does anyone know about traveling with newborns? The current plan would be to deliver here and then drive to my new house with him....3 hours away.

Driving for that long can really hurt a baby's back.

Is there anyway to alleviate this? My dr. is here and my house will be there...No way around it really. What about frequent stops??

with madison i cant travel with her untill the pedi says its fine. My boyfriend is going into the army again and will be going to another state. Not sure where yet. So..before you do anything i would wait . I know you have to see a pedi like 2 or 3 days after you leave the hospital and i think they only test them in a car seat for so long. you migh want to ask about that too.

Yeah, I'd say just ask your doctor. Or find a pedi out there?

I have my son in his carrier for 3 hours at a time a few days a week...I've never had any problems with him having back problems. Some babies even prefer to sleep in their infant carriers.

Yeah this trip would be when he was about 3-4 days old and then he wouldnt need to sit in a car seat that long again. And I will have a pedi where I move.

All babies are different, too. I guess I should have said, I've heard that driving for that long can hurt a baby's back because my fianc้'s mom told me about this girl who had her baby in a car for five hours, even taking breaks and it hurt the baby. :/. I'd still suggest to talk to her doctor, though. Just to be safe.
