bad chest/back pain.

I have had a cough for about a week now, but its finally starting to calm down. This morning however, I woke with excruciating pain whenever I take a deep breath. Its only on one side, and it feels like I bruised my ribs. It goes from directly under my left breast, down to the bottom of my ribs, and then around to the middle of my back. Its to the point where I cant get comfortable laying down and I really need some sleep! I'm hoping its just from my cough and that it will go away soon, but I was wondering if anyone else had pain like this and what it could possibly be if its not just muscle pain? Thank you.

same thing happened to me and i just pulled a muscle while coughing.....it sucks, but it will go away.....you could do a combination of heat/cold on it

Nope. I would go to the doctor though. Doesn't sound too good.
