Aaylas VCUG
posted 12th Aug
Aayla had her VCUG today at the hospitaltoday her appointment was supposed to be at 2 and we didnt get out until after 5. It didnt help there was an emergency in front of her and of course they had to come first, which was fine, what was bad was the whole procedure, they had to put a cathater (sp) in and she cried about that, then they put this dye up into her bladder THROUGH this thing, and that was another thing that upset her of course, no to mention that she had to try and pee around it, and she was crying becuase she was restrained on this board so she couldnt move at all, then they did the procedure, and it looked as though some of the dye was backing up into her kidney stem. So they are going to look more closely at that, and see if its possibly how her body works, or that she has blockage, or they put too much dye in too quickly, there are a lot of possibilities.
The plus side to it all is that her kidneys weren't dialated at all and neither was her bladder, so those are all good things, and her kidneys are functioning so thats another piece of good news.
We will know more about the course of action after the doctors all talk it over about what the findings are, and how to deal with it. They will most likely just watch it and see what happens and put her on antibiotics so that if the urine is backing up into the kidney it is sterile and wont cause an infection then do another VCUG to recheck them. I don't know what they would do after that if they are still backing up, because they didn't even tell us what for sure they are going to do, just what they think will happen.
Please keep her and alex in your thoughts. Alex is really confused about the whole thing and doesn't understand why sissy has to go to the doctor so much.
Thank you so much ladies!
