Godmother dilemma!!

posted 12th Aug
I have4 close friends thatwould love to be the Godmother but tradition is that there can only be 1 godmother/father. They're eachgiving me hints that they really want to be the godmom...is it ok to have more than 1 godmom? I dont want any of them to feel left out or cause any tension to our friendship because I didnt choose "that person". There is also 1 friend (out of the 4)that I dont want to be the godmom but she keeps telling me "thats her godson". Any advice?

Usually for a female, there is 2 woman and a male to be godparents... And for a baby boy, there is two men and a woman. =/ Usually churches make exceptions...

You aren't obligated to choose one. We decided we would wait and choose one at a later date..depending on who showed interest and dependability when it came to our child. Mason was baptised but we did not choose Godparents at the time. Hold off if you aren't sure..like I said you aren't obligated..if you have questions, ask you reverend or minister

Pick the one that you would most trust taking care of your baby. Which one do you think is the most responsible, which one would take the best care of your baby? That is what is most important because they would be there if something were to happen to you and you would want the best for your baby

I'd pick someone who will be willing and able to care for my child in the event something happened to me and my husband. Simply wanting the title (and being so tacky and crass as to actually drop hints or ask) wouldn't be enough for me. This isn't a rally for being someone's Maid of Honor- it's a child's care and wellbeing.

Just tell them you plan to have 3 more kids and don't want them all the have the same godmother.. so they will have a turn when you have more kids. Tell them you drew the name out of a hat or something for tis one..

I did. My buttmunch of a husband is being a tardknocker still, though.

I'd just try, "I'm sorry, we've already picked our godparents. It's sweet of you to offer, though." If they get all huffy, explain that you never asked them directly and you're sorry they assumed but that Honorary Aunties are just as good with way less responsibilities!

My husband and I are pregnant with our third and still haven't made that final decision yet. I am pretty sure that it will be my sister though do to the fact that she is stable, financially secure and responsible. But my sister will be the only one that will know when it comes down to making that decision. It will be in my will and I will have everything explained on my decision as to why they didn't go to the grand parents. It is up to you on how you decide to handle it just remember that it is your child and you are leaving them with the person you feel is more FIT to take care of them. Good luck!
