most drs. use catheters to drain bodily waste from your body so they are able to put a epi in. before they give you a c section i doubt you will be not able to pee but if you arent then yea you can get one. but why would you want one after the baby is here? .

OH I always thought that it was procedure for them to put a catheter in before they do a c-section. So if i potty before they prep me for the c-section than they wont have to put in a catheter?

you def want one bc u cant get out of bed!! epi's and spinals do numb the legs, u cant get up and walk to the bathroom...which def makes for good reason to have a catheter, unless u wanna pee on urself?!

where do they put the catheter? cuz if they put it in your bladder from your cooter, then how does that work when your pushing ect?

oh yea. i didnt even request it, i think its kinda automatic after they numb you, and when they take it out its nothing! you wouldnt even feel it if u didnt have some nurse all in ur cooter! haha.

they took it out when i started pushing

I had a scheduled c-section in February, and they put my catheter in before my spinal. They don't do the spinal until you're in the operating room, and they did everything else in a room before that.

hmm, my c-section was emergency..maybe thats why i didnt get it before my spinal..?

My first c-section was an emergency too, and they put in my catheter after my epi for that one.
