So I went to the docotrs yesterday and we talked about my induction. I asked her if she was going to give me poticin and she said not until 4 cm. and it was a pill that she would start with. has anyone heard of this pill( im not sure what the name is) and how did it work?

Not fair when are you being induced you are 4 days after me.

cervidal(sp)....i dunno about it tho bc i was on pitocin as soon as i was walked in to be induced...i was 2cm for 1 month tho.

The pill they're going to use on me if I don't go on my own by the middle of next week is inserted into your vagina, I can't remember what its called either. I just know that sometimes you can go into labor with just that and have steady contractions but for most women with their first that have to be induced have to have pitocin. The pill that they indert only works if your body is ready adn your cervix is fully ripened

Either cervadil or cytotec, although I believe cytotec is the pill and cervadil is topical.

How are you being induced already?! I'm due Thursday and won't be induced until the 29th of this month ...

The 29th ? Why so long after your due date? That just seems to long, 15days after your due date. They have set my induction date for Aug 19th.

They don't induce until you're 2 weeks past your due date unless medically indicated. Thus lowering the risk of c-section due to induction, but also making moms go FRIKKING CRAZY!

Every state and every doctor works differently....

Oh , that is nuts. Since this is your first, being overdue is common. My first was a week late. I do have GD so that is why they are inducing me, but I don't think I will make it till then.

They won't induce you here until you're 2 weeks past your due date, unless there's something medically wrong with you or the baby.

they are going to induce me at 38 weeks...   but thats if I don't have her b4 then! I have had many problems throughout this pregancy and my doc doesn't want to let me go past 38 weeks. we haven't set a date yet b/c shes going to strech my membranes and let me start walking around.

I won't be induced until 38 weeks but we were just talking about it yesterday... I have had many problems and was put on bed rest.. she had just mentioned that what she was going to use is a pill! I have never heard of that b4

It's a prostoglandin... They normally start with one dose, which can be taken orally or inserted into the vagina, but if the first dose doesn't work, they will try a second dose. It's a hormone that is similar to the hormones produced by labor and should cause contractions to start. If contractions do not start after a few hours, they will probably start you on potocin or oxytocin.
