Labor question

posted 12th Aug
Ok hopefully this isn't a dumb question but here goes.... without telling the full story again, on Friday night, I went into pre-term labor. I was admitted into L & D and they had to stop the contractions with two shots of Tetrabutaline (sp?). Anyways, so I got released the next day and the Dr. put me on partial bed rest and has me taking that same medicine via pill form every 6 hours to stop contractions. Well, I told the Dr. the medicine was making me feel bad and he said ok only take it if you need it. So I skipped one dose... big mistake. I had "Oh my god" painful contractions and had to take a pill to stop it. Well I am still taking the meds but when I feel them starting to wear off I am getting the painful contractions again and lower back pain. Ok my question is: Can you go into full blown labor and deliver a baby without your "bloody show" or "mucus plug"? I haven't lost either.. I am only 33 wks 4 days... I have a feeling he will be coming out sooner than later... thanks for any help.

Yep you definitely can - many many women never ever see a show or anything - it happens for the majority after labor is well on its way.

Thank you for your response... and I hope he sticks too. The Dr. said if I can make it to 36 weeks it will be better.. hopefully 37 though. The only goodpart of this is that the Dr. measured him yesterday at 37.5 weeks.. 4 weeks ahead.. he said he will big. And I have had the steroid shots just in case... I gave him a talk about staying inside there a few more weeks.. hopefully he listens lol

I had my youngest child at 35.5 weeks   She was perfectly fine - tiny- but healthy , she came home with me 48 hours later !

Hope everything works out and he stays there until he's ready to join the world.

Yes, you can. I had a premie at 30 weeks. Thank god she is 10 years old now and healthy. But it was touch and go in the beginning. She was in the hospital for 3 weeks. Try to keep your baby in for at least 3 more weeks. Hang in there for your little one.
