posted 11th Aug
Ok me and my boyfriend times how long it would take us to get to the hospital where im having my daughter and it took us an hour even when we were speeding. So Do you think if my water breaks ill have enough time to get there? Cant i just have a C-section or something so i dont worry so much?

maybe dont wait until your water breaks? i know they tell you to but if it takes that long to get to the hospital you might end up having the baby in your car! maybe go in when your contractions are morefrequent

Why would you want a c-section? You will have time, plus only like 10% of women's water breaks naturally.

Damn. An hour? That sucks.. I think I can get to my hospital in about.. 3 minutes.

a small percentage of women have their water break before labor starts, usually it breaks after you have been in labor for awhile... don't stress, you will be fine! my birthing center was an hour from my house and we made it in plenty of time... my water didn't break, i started labor and my midwive ended up breaking my water

Most first time moms have a long drawn out labor. Though, not all.

Most likely though, you will be there in time.

my water broke at midnight i got to the hospital about 20-25 minutes later and my son was born at 1:52 am. it would have been sooner but they wouldn't let me push b/c they weren't set up and the epi slowed it down. so less than 2 hours later everything was done with for me.
good luck!

You would have a better time having the baby in the backseat than a C-section! The recovery is kind of rough!

Yeah, my stepsisters first was 4 hours between waking up to her water breaking and delivering her daughter.

OP, you'll have enough time, don't fret. Just have everything well packed, and be super prepared to leave the house in a rush.

Maybe buy a bag of extra essentials so you don't have last min. packing items? Like, a little purse with extra deoderant, toothbrush, etc, maybe even put the spare set of car keys and a house key there so you don't have to collect anything, or find anything, etc. And have your shoes/jacket/etc. next to it?

My water broke.... I rushed to the hospital. Nothing happened after about an hour so I was given Pitocin. 4 hours later, an epidural and 8 hours after that my son was born. You'll have plenty of time to get to the hospital!! I wouldn't really *want* a c-section....the recovery from the episodomy was enough for me!! A scheduled induction might be an option to discuss w/ your ob if you are that worried.
