Placental Abruption

posted 11th Aug
We lost our first baby two days ago, due to my placenta fully separating from the uterus. By the time the ambulance had gotten me to the hospital and I had the emergency c-section, his pulse was so low there was no saving him. They tried for half an hour. His APGAR registered 1 out of 10 points.
Is there anyone else out there who's experienced this?
How soon did you start taking down the baby's furniture, putting away the clothes, etc?
What do you do to start moving on?

This was sudden, my pregnancy was fine and he was perfectly fine up until that day. 2 days prior I thought my water broke but everything checked out fine, his heart rate was normal, no contractions, no amniotic fluid loss, nothing. It came out of nowhere.

oh man thats terrible!! people tell me i over react because im kind of paraniod about everything. So many terrible things have happened to people who were 100% healthy out of no where..i keep worrying that theres gonna be a cord accident or a placenta problem....i just dont think ill rest till shes out...again im so sorry that happened to you...i cant even imagine having to put away all the furniture...i couldnt do it...you are a strong woman!!

Hey hun....I lost my daughter bc I had a placenta abruption at 35 weeks. My abruption was from pre-eclampsia but it was all the sudden bc I didnt know I had it. It was one of the hardest times in my life, and its been 2 years and is sometimes hard.
We didnt put the baby stuff up for a long time bc I just wanted to feel like a part of her was still with us. It took us many many months to put the stuff away.
As for moving on...the best I can say is time will help heal you....you will have many rough times coming up....but as times passes you will go days without being sad. You will never forget though...but time is the only thing that can help.

I am sooo sorry for your loss. If you ever want to talk, I am around.

Thank you for all your support and sympathy.
The doctors say that something like this only happens with 1 in 100 pregnancies, and only 15% of those pregnancies end up being fatal. It's pretty rare for it to happen.
