How condescending!!!!!(vent)

posted 11th Aug
So, I work as a waitress, and I went back to work about 4 weeks ago, when Adrien was 8 weeks old. It was my choice and I only work 3 days a week, while his daddy is home watching him. I have said on here before that I think SAHM and working moms are all amazing, and I don't feel like one does anything more than the other. With that said.....

Some lady came into work today and she had a little boy with her, so I went up and started talking to her. She said he was 4 months and I told her that I have a son that is almost 3 months old at home. She seemed surprised and said "Wow, you're back to work already?!" and I responded yes and to this she said (very condescendingly) "Well....that's just too bad..."

For some reason that has been bugging me all day! Why do some moms think that they are SOOO superior to others because of the decision they make to either not work outside the home or go back to work??? Sorry...I guess I just had to vent and hopefully hear some support!

I went back to work when Cole was 5 weeks old. Keep your head up..you do what you gotta do to support your little family!!

I think some mothers make those kinds of comments to feel a little better about themselves. Maybe she's a little over whelmed with being a SAHM and a bit jealous of you. After all you get to interact with people who can actually talk back. I know sometimes when my husband is leaving for work I wish it was me. Don't get me wrong I LOVE being with my boys, but oh what I would give to have an entire conversation that didn't end with being spit up on or why? why? why?
But don't take it personally. You are doing what is right for your family. In fact maybe you should pity her a little after all how is she ever really going to connect with other Moms with such a bad attitude?
