His birthday ideas...Help me

Well, my b/f's b-day is coming up on Sept. 7. He is a UFC fanatic, but always ends up watching it at home, alone, or with me...so he may as well be alone. I know befor he was with me and had kids, he used to watch it with all his friends, be drunk out of his face, and have lots of fun. Now, I'm sure he would love to experience it one more time. So I emailed his cousin, and asked him to help me out. We live an hour away from the city, so I'll ask him to "surprise" him just by showing up Saturday about 5pm. Prior to this I'm going to send $100.00 to his cousin to go and buy gift certificates for the sports bar where he will take him. They can go there and play some pool, eat steak, have some beerrs, and after that, the fight should be on. I really want this to be speacial for him, because as much as i complain about him, he really does do alot for us. When he met me I was a single mom of two girls. I got NO help from their dad, and he told me...dont even bother with the loser, HE wouldnt take the place of him, he would be somethign better. Things between the three of them are tense sometimes, he's young(21) and still adjusting to rasing someone elses kids. BUT, I stay home...he works to support me and MY kids and the baby we have together. Even before she was born or I was even pregnant I stayed home with them.

So, my dilema is the money thing. Do you think $100.00 is enough? I cant really afford alot, and I know his paycheques go to bills and groceries and baby clothes. He wont have anymoney to spare for stuff like that. Or should I go for $150.00 or $200.00??? I really want him to have fun...what do you think? And what would a good b-day gift be from his 2 month old daughter?

Just do whatever you can afford, that's all he can expect from you.

I spent about $300.00 on my bf's birthday this weekend. We had a BBQ with all of his friends and a bunch of alcohol, but we got lucky because we didn't have any bills to pay with that check.

If you can afford $200 then go for it, he will appreciate it :]

I know this isn't a birthday gift, but for Father's Day a few years back, (my daughter was 3 months at the time), I handmade a card with her footprints and handprints on it that I put on with paint. I wrote a little poem that coincided with Father's Day and all of her accomplishments so far. Just thought I'd offer that as a tip. It's always fun to be creative.

That sounds like a good ideabut maybe you could save some money throwing a BBQ at your place or something where everyone would come over to watch the fight.That way he can spendhis birthday with you guys too?

well thats the whole point. hes a;ways stuck at home, doing it, and hes always wanted to go out to watch the fight...but we never have the money/ so i can afford it now, i wanna do it. PLUS his b-day isnt REALLY till sunday, so we'll have alittle family party then...WHEN HES HUNG OVER!

I think $100 is plenty. His friends will also be there with him and they will probably buy him a drink and pay for the pool. I think that's a great gift that will show him that you were really thinking about what would make him happy......and I'm sure that's what matters to him.

well....if you knew me , you woul dhave laughed at the idea of me keeping a secret. so needless to say he knows. but his cousin is still coming ot get hm and i bought the gift certificates, and hes going, but its just not going to be the big surprise. he DOESNT know that me and the girls(3 daughters) are planning a bbq for the next day(WAY later so his hangover isnt as rough ) We're going to buy balloon and streamers and i ordered a big cake, i have been looking online for some collector dvd's of his favorite show, and found some, which would sually cost about 85 dollars at an anime shop...i bought 3 of them, for 2 dollars each. so thats AWESOME!
