dna for childsupport??

posted 10th Aug
My bestfriend is having trouble with her boyfriend of 6 years she wants to start collecting child support from him because he hasn't supported there child. Anyway she wants to kno if you have to get a dna test for child support?(becasue herboyfriend is now denying he is the father...because she wants to take him to court)I had no idea what to tell her....but i thought someone here might know.

yes. if her ex or whatever is saying that. He will more then likly tell the judge that and the judge will court order a dna test. they will of corse have to pay for it themselfs and then after the results come in then they will issue what amount he has to pay each month

Here in AZ if he signed th birth certificate he basically waved his rights to a DNA test. I am sure if he really wants one he can pay for it. And if she has no doubts i would let him just to be like F-U asshole!

in MN if they sign the parentage (most people think it's the birth certificate, but it isn't) form that means they are declared the "legal" father - meaning that child support is taken from him. even if another man is proven by DNA to be the father the "legal" father still has to pay until he goes to court and legally removes his name - which is VERY expensive and time consuming. check into what that signature means in your state, but i believe most states have similar rules. as a side note if the guy doesn't sign the form here, the state will pay for the DNA test. look into what he signed and what it means and see if the state will pay - they would much rather pay for a DNA test and have that guy pay for the childthen to supportthe child for 18 years.
