Induced for Big Baby

Anyone here that is going to be/was induced for a suspected big baby? Just asking 'cause they said I was having an ultrasound in 2 weeks just to check how big he is and I've heard that they will induce for that.
How big did they suspect it was?

I was induced 2 days early because I was measuring big.
The doctor said he was getting too big for me to carry.
He came out 8 lbs. 8 oz.

I would go ahead and go to term. The weight predictions are SO off.

My first i was induced, they told me she would be 6lbs. Yeah ok....she was 9lbs and 1 1/4. So with this new found pregnancy, they want to check the babies weight in the middle of oct, and possibly induce if they think she'll get as big as my first. I'm kinda scared and nervous. But i rather be induced in a week before, then have another 9lb baby, cuz they told me with my first being so big is why alot of things didnt go well with my l&d. *sigh* hopefully all will work out with you and the little one  

umm i should have been induced for having a big baby.

my son was 22 inches and 9lbs 4 oz. but i had him at an army hosital and they were idiots. i have my own horror stories from that.

my doc now are a little concerned this baby will be big too so they are already planning on inducing me at 39-40 weeks depending on my cervix and if my body is showing signs of labor or not.

its sort of a touchy subject with some doctors. some docs will induces and some wont.

I'm glad they monitor things better these days.. My DH was almost 14 pounds when he was born, I dont want that to pass on to our baby   ((even tho I'm 33 weeks and ''measuring 39 weeks''...eeek))

ya i had a few "issues" sense he was so big... besides a loooong labor. i wont go into details sense i really dont want you to be scared. (nothing ot be scared about)...
but i will agree being induced is better then getting all the way there naturally and ending up in a c-section cause the baby wont come down.

and BTW they said my son was estimated 6-7 pounds too... but they didnt do an ultrasound. they just felt my belly with their hands..

Don't let them pressure you to induce if you don't want to! If you had a 9 pounder once, you can deliever just a big of a baby next time!

Wow yeah, My mom sorta wants to go ahead and set up a day. I'm huge but I haven't gained any weight in almost 2 months. (when I barely even showed then...) All this is sorta making me feel better. It sounds more common than I thought! Thanks.

i agree dont be pressured.. but that whole you can do it again if you did it once shouldnt be why you choose not to be induced. speaking as a person who did it once.. it is scarey the things you go through. sense you didnt have a good L&D im sure you know what i mean. just make sure you communicate with your doctor and follow your own instincts.

and as for me doing it again.. im terrified. im hemmoraged so bad and had a level 3-4 tear. so ya.. i dont want to go overdue as i did before so i can deliver another toddler lol.

Well, I was induced but it was for pre-e, I was told I had to be induced early because he was getting be too but he was born 7 lbs 11oz at 38 weeks, to me that wasn't big.

Well obviously pre-e is an acceptable reason to be induced!

Haha I know! She does have her prothetics degree and is like one credit from her doctorit. But I want to go AT LEAST to full term. I'm at risk for pre-mature labor on my own so I'm afraid of it being spontaneous and EARLY haha.
The only reasons I would induce is if the doctor suggested it OR if he only delivers on a certain day of the week (but I'd still schedule past full term) Because I have to have a "team" of doctors working together during this pregnancy and if I went into labor when he wasn't available And had to have a complete stranger who doesn't know all of my medical history I just think I'd panic.
I'm going to ask him on Thursday if he does have a certain day or anything like that.

it sounds like you got more going on then a big baby and i would just relax and talk to your doctor :-)

the more relaxed you are the better things will be!
