Gerber puffs

How old was your baby when you started giving them gerber puffs?

Edan is 7 months and I tried them the other day and he keeps choking on them.  

i dont use them. i sat there starign at them for 1/2 hour until i was like "is just seems weird that they make these with foods that can cause allergies, and if it is artificial flavoring, then i dont want her having it anyway". so i just walked away.

I started about 9 months old.

We started at around 7 months and he'd gag on them, so we just try every other week with one, just before 8 months he stopped gagging, and started chewing them rather than trying to swallow them whole. Now at almost 9 months he eats as many as we let him.

Mine is 8 mths and just spits them out and thinks they are play toys haha.

I just tried with Lucas yesterday, he did great with them. He'll be 7 months on the 16th.

Xavier started eating puffs and cherios at about 7 months. He's never had any problems chewing food. He won't even eatthe food ifhe can't chew it, so we just give him stage three foodsand cut up fruits and veggies, then he feeds himself. For his cereal, we even have toput cut up fruit in it.I don't think my son's normal though,haha!My girlfriend didn't startherbaby on them untilshe was over 9 months cause she would choke.

You could try the lil crunchies. Those are larger and dissolve really quick.

I would think the larger the worse, since he's choking on them.

Does he try to chew them at all? I just figured since they're larger and dissolve quicker,it might be easier for his teeth/gums to find it. Also, since they're like cheetos and long, you could hold one end while he chewsto see how he does before putting the whole thing in his mouth.

He doesn't try to chew the puffs, he just tries to swallow them. I do give him zwieback toast and biter biscuits to help him get the hang of chewing.
