Baby food mistakes....

posted 8th Aug
Do you think it is a mistake to only feed your baby fruits & not veggies? Do you think they won't eat veggies later?

My mom never gave me veggies as a baby but the only one I didn't like as a kid was spinach. lol, then again they didn't like it eather so they didn't give it to me.

I'm debating on weather I should feed her veggies as much as fruits... only veggies... or what? i don't want her to only like fruits or dislike veggies.

they need a balanced diet. too much fruit would be a sugar overload.

They recommend introducing veggies first because if they have the fruits first they will like the sweet more and not take the veggies

I think it depends on the child... they all have different tastes just like adults. My daughter had fruits first, but that didn't make a difference.. She loves her veggies too!

you can always give her a feeding of fruits for lunch and a veggie for dinner..
that way she can have as much of both

i have to agree with that. a balanced diet is the best way to give your child good eating habits for life. what may have workedfor your mom with you as kid might not go so well with your little one. plus fruits do havea lot more sugar in them.

I started Mackenzie on fruits first, but she was only 3 months when she started to eat food often. Then the only way I could get her to eat veggies was if I gave it to her mixed. Now she would rather eat veggies than fruits. Shes 8 months and her fave thing is peas and greenbeans. She would rather have whole (adult food) peas, carrots and greenbeans. she will munch on them all the time!
lol
All I can say is do what you think is right. It wont hurt the child.

Really any veggies that you want to. Broccoli and cauliflower I wouldn't do because they are really gassy and they really don't recommend until later. Some good ones to try are green beans, carrots, peas, squash, sweet potato, turnips, zucchini, eggplant. I mean anything, just use fresh or frozen because the canned ones contain too much sodium for the babies.

Sorry it took so long I didn't see the Topic Reply for some reason.
