Okay, who thinks that that once you are married, they are your husband/wife until you die or they die? In NC where I live, the Penticostal Holiness Church believes that the only way you can remarry is if your spouse is dead. Doesn't matter if they are physically/mentally/sexually/financially abusive. You are to leave them and stay married and alone. I just find it to be insane! Am I the only one? Also, this is based on the King James Version, they don't believe in the revised Bible, can't remember the name of it.

Wow! I wonder who voted that it was never okay? People start out their relationships with the best of intentions. No one wants to get divorced but it happens. I married my highschool sweatheart and he was unfaithful and we split ways. So does that mean I never deserve love and companionship again because I took a chance on him?

i personally will only read the nkj myself, some of the revived version (newliving translation, new century version, niv, etc) have changed some key things. anyways, i do NOT agree with divorce myself, BUT if youare being abused or if your spouse has become a drug addict or alcoholic and is bringing you down spiritually, then divorce is definetly ok. but if its just a simple case of you cant get along or you 'no longer lvoe each other' then thats crap to me.

Personally, I think its a bit on the crazy side, but that's just me.

I think (not 100% sure) that you are supposed to stay with your huband no matter what. You're supposed to be a good wife and if your husband treas ou bad then he'll get whats coming for him on Judgement Day. But im not sure if you can or cannot divorce if you are being mistreated (phisically,mentally, sexually, etc)

IMO if you are being sexually, physically or mentally then you should get a divorce(if marriage counseling didnt help). I could care less what the pastor/bible has to say.

I know that sounds harsh but why should you have to go through something like that, why should you have to be miserable the rest of your life. If your just getting a divorce because you dont love each other anymore etc then divorce shouldnt be an option for you. But again that's JMO

in the church I go to, I dont think they will remarry you unless it's under certain circumstances. my mom and step father have been married for 18 years now I believe and they had to jump through so many hoops to get their marriage blessed by the church. my mom and real father divorced because he left her for a younger woman and he was very big into drugs then add on the fact that he went to jail for armed robbery. my step father and his first wife divorced I'm not sure why though. I'm not one that's completely for divorce. I do see that there are different reasons, and I respect alot of those reasons just not all...

I don't agree with either choice on your poll.
But anyways, I think that the idea of not being able to leave an abusive spouse is horrible. I think divorce is a choice that a person should be able to make for a varitey of reasons.
Btw, the King James verison is what Mormans use.

This can not be the only church in your area, can it? I believe that divorce is a necessary evil. I think there are times it is best for all involved. However, i did tell the hubby I would kill him before I divorce him.

I believe in God, but I'm getting a divorce.... I don't believe that God's plan was for me to be with an ass hole who hits me... that's just not ok and I'm better than that. But I have this Book...
