thats the way many of them around here handle things- not just mine- and i have never heard of not being able to get ahold of an OB on the on call line- every OB office I have ever heard of has OB's on call because ONE of them in the practice has to be at the hospital at ALL times.

Quoting Ari&J'sMommy:“ I never realised about the ambulance thing. Everytime we called the ambulance we were in right away...but ... [snip!] ... called 911 from his own hospital and they sent out an ambulance for him! But then again an hour to live is prettu critical lol.”

Yeah, alot of people dont realize that the ambulance can get you to the ER quick, but the ER has every right to put you out in the waiting room if they feel your condition is not an urgent matter. We have people all the time that call for flu like symptoms, fever, nausea, vomiting....Out to the waiting room you go.

Your case was a little different. If you are bleeding that bad, thats a difference. See most if not all ER's have a triage nurse who takes your vital signs when you are checking in. They should be at least. If this young lady (OP) was bleeding out then her blood pressure more than likely would have been pretty low and they would have taken her back rather quickly. The triage nurse obviously felt she was stable enough to wait. I just think that it's wrong the way they handled letting her bleed all over the place like that.

Alright so I talked to my doctor and she said pretty much the same thing I knew "It's unfortunate that you had to wait, but waiting is a part of life" However When I told her about the bleeding on 5 different chairs and the nurses not really caring, she was pretty outraged. So the end of this all, I am going to my lawyer and having them write a letter about the sanitary condition of the hospital and how they handle blood, because I'm pretty sure their actual procedure is much different from "Huh, oh sure you can have a sanitary wipe"

I do not agree with how the hospital handled this, and I personally believe that if there was nothing they could do, and it could have waited until the next day, they could have not admitted me and said "Go home, call your doctor in the morning" rather than having me in there for 6 hours. The only reason I went was because A. I was scared and B. My doctor told me to go. I just wish they could have had a doctor come out and say "Hi, We are so sorry but there is nothing we can do. You can either wait 5 hours to be seen or go home, sleep, and go to the doctor in the morning" because given that option, I would have taken it.

I'm so sorry you had a terrible experience with all of this. You definatley did not need the extra stress.
