evening primrose oil & discharge (maybe TMI)

posted 6th Aug
So I bought a bottle of evening primrose oil softgels the other day after researching them online .. just to help soften my cervix, obviously they don't send you into labor. Today (second day using them) I got a ton of booger-ish yellow sticky mucus when I wiped, could this be the remains of the softgel or my mucus plug? Has anyone used these before, and to what result? Thanks!

Wow. You really want her out. Your starting your own labor. It's funny, but just be careful. It could be a combination of the primrose and the plug because if you softened your cervix then more than likely it loosened enough to let some or all of the plug come out. But, naturally it rebuilds itself so...good luck. ****Labor Dust****

I'm absolutely not starting my own labor. I'm doing everything NATURAL and safe to help labor along. There is no (safe & natural) way to start your own labor. And I'm not doing anything idiotic, like castor oil or blue cohosh.

Sometimes the evening primrose oil works sometimes it doesn't- obviously it doesn't START labor it helps (over time, usually days or weeks if anything) soften the cervix and ripen it, just like semen will.

Oh trust me lol there are ways of starting your own labor ( I did it to early by eating a pineapple and they stopped my labor) but yeah I research that stuff here recently too, It may not start the labor but you do gotta be carful, If you want to have the baby soon walk and walk alot, itll help you alot even if it doesnt put you into labor itll help make it easier, but for me with out alot of pain it helped dialate me to 5 cm so far!!!

And sorry but I think she was just trying to help.......

I cant tell you much on what it is but Ill tell you what I know, It comes in a gel cap you shove *up there* by your cervix according to study's it softens the cervix speeding the process along, but that just what Ive heard, and man its expensive where I live! lol

It is most likely part of your mucous plug. I've been using the softgels in that way since 38 weeks 2 days (with docs blessing so everyone else keep your snarky comments to yourself) and I've never had them dissolve in a way that would cause a snotty discharge. I have lost my mucous plug (twice with this pregnancy!) and yep- that is what it can look like.

Good luck mama! Much labor dust your way!

LMAO- You CANNOT start labor by eating a pineapple! That is truly an old wives tale and what happened to you is purely a coinicidence. I (and many other pregnant women I have known) have eaten pineapples throughout pregnancy without ever inducing labor. LOL

Thanks ... lol I've eaten so many cans of pineapple and nothing for me ... pretty sure things like that are chance.

Hopefully it was my plug

Well I'm SORRY But I had bad contractions right after eating a fresh pineapple. It gave me the craps, maybe it doesn't work but it did for me, to bad it was just to early....
