truth about epidurals

posted 5th Aug
do they really hurt? I'am being induced at 6:30 a.m. and i know i'am better off getting one because that pain will be less, but i'am curious because people say they dont hurt and i dont know how that is possible because a shot on the arm hurts, i can only imagine one in the spine  and i would rather know what to expect then to not be expecting that much pain and having it hurt alot.

stings a little from the numbing stuff they use before the epi but other than that no. when they take it out you could have a headache or migrane though depending on if you leaked spinal fluid.

I didn't have one with my daughter, and I am debating having one with my son. I am being induced Friday.

But honestly, there is no way in hell that needle can hurt as bad as giving birth with no drugs! Trust me, I've done it! Good luck on your induction tomorrow.

Im not going lie...I had a spinal and it hurt pretty bad. Just make sure the person holding you is someone you can count on to help you through it. I had a really nice grandpa/father figure man that made it possible for me. Just remember to breath and dont move around! You'll be just fine ^^

just wait until you are havign bad contractions, then you wont give a shit as long as theyre making you feel better   i promise you wont even feel the epi if you are contracting bad enough.

My first I went natural and with my son I was induced and got an epidural it sucked it hurt after but it was WAY better than natural childbirth.

AGREE! Of course its gonna hurt BUT compared to hours of contraction....... Epi is heaven. Good luck.

By the time you are ready for an epideral you are usually in such discomfort you could care less about a little prick. I remember the guy putting it in saying "okay here comes the worst part" I braced myself.....he was kidding it was in and he was done, I didn't even know. Mine only worked on one side of my body though. I like to say i had 50% natural child birth.

Nope, I didn't feel mines at all. Getting shots or blood drawn, the needle always hurts a little for me, but getting an epi, I honestly felt nothing, I even asked if the damned thing was in yet lol
