Update to Rice Cereal

Connor had his1 month checkup today, everything is fantastic. He is 22 and 3/4 inches, and weighs 9 lbs 14 ozs. Our pediatrician mentioned itwas ok to start rice cereal at night, I was shocked but enthused. He says to help with sleep at night, hmm I like that idea.

does he have some sort of reflux? i was under the impression that your baby should be at LEAST double his birth weight, and that starting foods to wearly often leads to allergies later in life..

i personally think, if im not missing anything that your DR is an ASS.

I don't think it makes them sleep longer.

You're doc said it was okay? I was told to wait until 4 months.

It doesn't, and a 1 month old should be waking up every 3-4 hrs to eat.

I really don't think he'll sleep longer lol. He breastfeeds every hour to three hours all day long. During the night I give bottles of pumped breastmilk in a bottle so when I go back to work h is used to it. My Dr said he has almost doubled his wt quicker than expected, he was 6.45 at birth, and Connor also has good head control, I know its not great, but is where expected.

Most times the norm is between 4-6 months unless they have reflux or something along those lines.....my Pedi said I could start feeding her cereal when she was eating 26oz formula in a 24 hour period....she is 10 weeks old tomorrow and still doesn't eat that much nor is she not satisfied with formula so I find no need. I also hear many women on here say it doesn't help their babies sleep.....I see not real reason to start it so soon if I was you. JMO though.

I pump between15- 20 /day that he eats and also breastfeeds
