Should nfants wear shoes?

If they're not walking, they don't need shoes.
Their feet should at least be covered with socks when in public.
What kind of hillbilly are you? Put some shoes on your kid!

Should nfants wear shoes?

posted 4th Aug
Need some opinions. At the pediatrician's last week there were several babies in the waiting room including my 7 month old daughter. All the babies were wearing shoes, except for my daughter. They ranged in age from maybe only a few months old up to ones that were just starting to walk. I just never put shoes on her. She doesn't walk so I never thought it was necessary. The few occasions I have tried to put them on her she just yanks them off so I'm not going to risk losing them while we're out. Should I at least have socks on her?

I always put shoes on my older two and they never took them off as they got older. I have friends who never put shoes on their kids and when they atarted the baby would always take them off. I had bought a pair of baby sandals for Evan and he is such a chunk they do not fit him.

If you really want to put shoes on her buy soft sole shoes those are fine. Regular shoes may not be good for their feet until they start walking.

The only reason I haven't been is because it has been so hot! I wouldn't want to wear socks right now...but maybe I should....

If they don't walk yet they don't need shoes. Also shoes can cause slower growth of their feet. So whats the point. If they're wearing shoes that are restricting their growth and they aren't even walking yet, best to just use socks..

Since its summer time I would worry about putting socks or shoes on her. But If she isn't walking I wouldn't. I have 3 kids. And with my first I did put the nike's on him and such. What a WASTE!!! Now if you really want to try some shoes there are some infant shoes at Stide rite. They are pretty cool. But really they don't need any. Get the socks that have the little rubber stoppers on the bottom of them. They are great for non slip..

hahaha I just tried on two pairs on my 4 week old.. IMO shoes are just accessories when they are little. Something to complete their outfit. But not a must.. Atleast socks on..

I don't see the need for shoes if they're an infant, but they look cute. Aslong as they don't have hard soles, I see nothing wrong with them. I think hard soles on a baby who cannot walk is pretty stupid.

Thanks ladies   I'll probably start putting socks on her so she looks halfway respectable.

I'd put socks on Teddy if I could, but he HATES them. He literally pulls them off as soon as they go on. It's impossible!
