Monday morning we went in for my induction. My water was broke about 6:30am, and we started the pitocin a little before 7am. I was dilated to a 3-4 and 80% effaced so i thought things would be easy. My OB said i could have the epidural before the induction even started but i waited a few hours. The hubby was waiting with his tennis ball to rub my back but all the contractions were upfront in my upper thighs and lower abdomen. It was very painful. So i went for the epi, which went better than i expected, i hardly felt it. It took a very long time to go from a 4 to a 5, then 6. My epi was wearing off and with each contraction i could feel a sharp pain from the catheter. My nurse took it out but said they would need to empty my bladder before delivery. Then it was a 6 to ready to push in 15 mins. After pushing once she was crowning and my OB was stuck downstairs, apparently at her own OB appointment. The nurses made me stop pushing and do breathing exercises with each contraction-which isn't the best feeling especially when you feel like your riping apart. Dr. came in, one more push her head was out, then she slipped out. She was born at 1:34pm, just under 7 hours of labor. There was no time to empty my bladder. I did have to get 3 stitches, and my little girl has some popped blood vessels in her eyes from coming through the birth canal so fast. She also had a little scratch on her head that we're not sure where it came from. Her apgar scores were 9 & 9.
Shes been a perfect baby.
Oh and on a side note, ever since his sissy was born, my son Anthony has been trying to use to potty. He has a successful trip at least once a day.
Thanks for letting me share!
