Measuring small at 34 weeks

posted 4th Aug
I am a first time mommy and I measured 29cm at 34 weeks...I'm very scared since the normal size is 2cm less than how many weeks you are pregnant. My doctor said i should measure at least 32cm. I am having an ultrasound tomorrow to see if everything is ok, my baby just might be small since i am only 5ft and 90lbs pre pregnancy. Is anyone else measuring small...I am so scared.

I personally don't believe most of the measuring stuff! I measurined big at 28 weeks 30 weeks and 34 weeks, had a growth ultrasound at 36 weeks and he measured a little small, small enough the doctor wants to do a biophysical profile on wed. So I feel you! Try to not stress, I hope everything is good for us both!

ive heard that some babies only get as big as its momma...maybe thats just it, besides if something is wrong you are pretty far along and the baby might be better on the outside in nicu than in your uterus, just stay calm and wait it out! i went thru the waiting game two weeks ago when i was measuring 35 weeks at 30 went in and just found out that im having a big boy...nothing was wrong!

I am measuring really small, but she's right on time.

Doctors want everyone to fit to a certain standard now. Dont worry and stress over it. Sometimes babys are a little smaller, but they catch up.

Sometimes you just have lower levels of amniotic fluid. Try to stay positive and enjoy the fact you get another ultrasound.

I didn't know they started to measure fundal heigth until 28 weeks? When they do, they usually don't worry about a 2 week difference.

What did they measure you're FH or are you talking about an ultrasound? Just curious!

It could also be how the baby is positioned. at my 31 week, I was measuring 34 weeks lol. I am hopping that is NOT accurate lol. I am sure all is well. Keep us posted

My visits alternate between the Dr and the NP and I think they both measure differently.....Hence sometimes it seems I'm not growing and other visits it's like wow! what a change.

The best piece of advice I have ever gotten is simply this: Don't worry until there is something to worry about.
Seriously, until you have that ultrasound and it clearly shows the baby is small don't worry about a thing because more than likely there is simply nothing for you to be worried about

Mine alternate between my OB and NP too. My NP meaures from faaaar down my pubic bone and my OB measures from right below my belly lol

i was measuring around 7 weeks ahead which is a lot but when i went to have an ultrasound to check for size my baby was measuring too small. at 34 weeks she only was weighing in at 3 pounds 11 ounces. two weeks after that t he ultrasound said 4 pounds 2 ounces. the doctor is concerned because at 35 weeks she should have weighed around 5 and 1/2 pounds. so on tuesday i go back for another ultrasound and is she is still measuring small then he may have to take her early because she isnt receiving food.   i just think she will be little because when the father was born he was only 5 pounds and i was only 6. so yeah ...your little one may just be small
