visitation rights??

posted 3rd Aug
I live in Alabama and my baby's dad lives in Tennessee. Maybe somebody had this problem and could give me some advice. I was wondering if the father gets vistation rights, will he be able to take my baby out of state? Or will he have to stay here to see her?

i wouldn't think that he would be able to take her out of state until she is alot older. btw i like the name you have there. we named our daughter chloe. she is almost 11 months old. also i am from alabama. what part are you in?

I live in Arab. It's about 30 minutes south of Huntsville. I just don't want him to be able to take her out of state. His family is kind of weird. Alot of them drink and some of them smoke weed and I dont want her around that.

if you get a lawyer and tell him what you want then he(the dad) would have to comply or at least come to some kind of agreement. maybe something like he can get weekend visitation if you get him a hotel room for that weekend or something like that you know. i am from florence. i still have family that live there.

Do you know how long the whole process takes?

i am not for sure. some people get it done quick and others it is a long drawn out process. i think it all depends on your lawyer and how willing the dad is to compromis

Ugh. I hate drama. I don't know why things have to be so difficult. I know it is probably better to do it the "legal" way. But I wish the dad would have just agreed to send money and just come a visit instead of having to go to court and stuff. This is so stressful.

I live in Cali, so things may be a little different then where you are from, but When it comes to the child, it depends on who is the "Primary" prarnet & who is the "Secondary" parent...or who has custody and who doesn't. With out doing it the "legal" way, you guys would basically have to come to agreements on your own. Just because he's the father doesn't mean you have to do anything. You both have to agree on what the child's best interest is, or basically take it to the court and have a judge decide for you. If you ahve the child FULL TIME, then you would bacically be concidered the "Primary" parent.

Hope this helps....
