Yea, it's human nature.. That's what boys do lol.. My nephew started to "discover" himself around 5 and I always just told him to go to his room or whatever if he was going to do that..

8 years old omg!!! thats so young, i have a 9 year old who is just starting to get a few hairs under his arms. i think kids now days are developing too soon, i dont think we did until about 12 or 13.

My fiance says it's a guy thing... they get their first erection, and get curious. Kinda going with the "wow, this feels good" and just go for it. Not every guy is shown... they just kind of do it by themselves.

I think it is TOTALLY normal and just natural. He didn't have to learn it anywhere. I mean, he might have just "brushed" it once with his hand, and realized it felt good. My nephew (who was about 1 1/2 at the time) would "play with it" and giggle and stuff all the time while in the bath or whatever. Boys will be boys is the only way I can explain it.

It's totally normal. He most likely just realized by chance that it feels good. Just explain to him that it's something you do in PRIVATE, in your room alone. Not in front of other people. But don't teach him it's bad or dirty, he'll end up with a lot of issues in that case.

My son is 3 years old and if I leave him naked he'll play with his "pee pee" until its at full attention and say "my pee pee big" I havent figured out what to do about that yet.
I say just teach your son not to do it in public areas if you are okay with him doing it at all. As for having the talk, I have no idea.
