thank you to my midwife?

posted 3rd Aug
I had my baby on the 25th of July and have my 2 week check up coming up on Tuesday. I had a really long hard labor and everytime I think of my midwife I just want to cry because of how patient, sweet, encouraging and everything else she was. During labor my son's heartbeat went down to the 50's for 6 minutes, and when he came out he got stuck and the heartbeat was lost all together. I feel like if she wasn't there things could have really turned out differently. I want to do something to show her how much I appreciate every thing she did. Any ideas or do you think just a thank you card? I didn't even really know her until delivery time! I maybe had 2-3 appts. w/ her before then!

I really wanted to send flowers to the whole l&d floor after I had my son. They were all so nice and helpful. Unfortionately we were back and forth to the hospital so many times having him tested bc of being jaundice that we never got around to it. If it was a women though I'd say just go to wally world or even just your grocery store and get a pretty bouquet. If you can't afford it though a good card can mean just as much!

A card would be wonderful. I loved my OB office and since I only saw 1 OB, 1 nurse, and 1U/S tech, I did something special for each. My nurse and U/S tech (I had 10 U/S, she I saw her a lot!) got a box of chocolate and a thank you card, my OB got a candy jar filled with Dove chocolate, and the office as a whole got a basket I made.

I loved my OB and the staff! They went so far out of their way and with the complications I had at the end, I couldn't have appreciated them more. I think whatever you do will be great and will make her day better! Congrats on the new baby and good luck  !

I felt that way about the doctor who delivered my baby. I only saw her about 3 times during my pregnancy (I was at an OB-GYN office that shuffled you between doctors). But after she delivered my daughter, she just has a special place in my heart. At my 6 week appointment I brought her a card and a framed picture of my daughter. We gave each other a big hug, and she is now my regular Gyno...next time I'm pregnant I plan on only seeing her for my prenatal visits.

I definitely say if you want to do something special - go for it. I'm sure she'll appreciate it!

I gave my doula some pictures of Parker (because she loves having pictures of "her" babies!) and a $60 gift card for dinner at Claim Jumper. Nothing super exciting, but I wasn't feeling to creative immediately after giving birth.
