Military Moms --- Freedom Calls

posted 3rd Aug
Please, does anyone have any information on how I can go about preparing a freedom call for the birth of my baby?

I just think my husband would be so grateful for this, it sounds so wonderful.

Live feed for when the baby is born..

My husband will be in Iraq during the birth of our first child (Marine).
With the live feed, we would be able to see each other while I'm in labor, and He would see his baby when he/she first enters the world..

It would be the closest thing to him being there...

If you are going to a military hospital let them know and they will tell you how to go about setting it up and will prepare everything thru the red cross so he will be able to do it. If you are going to a civilian hospital, I dunno. Tell him to talk to his commander, contact the redcross, or go thru a family readiness program would be my guess.

lol its alright alot of people dont know how to like get things done with the military, like who to call and stuff, dont let them punk you around though, they sometimes do that to people who are still getting the hang of things

My girlfriend wasnt able to do it at Camp Lejeune when her baby was born and her husband was in Iraq. He was able to call her. It probably varies where theyre at too and on the batallion to be honest. After the baby was born (i think a wk later) they had a freedom call. As a matter of fact, they were able to do it once a month. The only thing I can tell you is once your appointed a key wife when he leaves (which you will), she will help you alot. I dont know if you know much about it, but she transfers everything from the command to you. Itll help you out alot. Youll learn so much more when he deploys. They have so much set up and a few classes youll have to go through. Hope it helps.
