how soon??

posted 2nd Aug
for the past about 3 days I have been having really bad contractions, probably just B/H but they are 5 minutes apart and last about 60-70 seconds. They normally start up and happen for about 2 or 3 hours then go away again. I'm due on the 9th, and I was 80% effaced and 1cm dialated about a week and a half ago but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else before? and approximately how long it was before you went into active labor?

It's different for everyone how fast labor progresses. How strong are the contractions? Like, do you have to stop what your doing to get through them? Can you carry on a conversation during one without the other person knowing your having one without you telling them? Do you have to stop and squat on the floor howling in pain?? Lol.

That info would be really helpful to my advice-formation.

yeah, they are really strong and normally stop me from what I am doing. I don't exactly have to squat on the floor from the pain but I do have to stop and lean up against something half the time, and normally towards the end of one of the contractions

This might sound like a very strange question, but what SHAPE are the contractions? Are they round all over, concentrated more in a certain area, pointy and sharp, or vary?

Some are all around, mainly lower back, vaginal, and upper tummy though... The ones in the lower back and vaginal area hurt the worst though

Ok eventually they will escalate to POINTY contractions. Lol. At least this is how I thought of them. Pointy contractions are like when the contraction feels so strong and radiates outwards into like a cone-shape almost. Sometimes I could actually see the change in my stomach from nice and rounded to more pointy. Those are the REAL, true, not joking around contractions. If you ever feel pointy contractions, I'd say its high time you go to the hospital.

Try taking a bath, and relly relaxing. If the spacing between the contractions gets closer together, get to the hospital (but probably no need to rush, you'll be fine at home for a few more hours). But if they slow down, even a little, they're probably practice contractions (not BH, they don't sound like BH), and you should wait until they're getting more regular.

Do you feel ready to have a baby?

I feel ready... I've been in a lot of pain for the past few days and really want to get it over with. I know what you mean by pointy, I have some that are like that but not all of them are. but thank you for the advice. I will keep better track of them now. Thank you
