Baby Shower

Hello everyone. I just had a quick question and looking for some advice. I am due Feb 5, 2009. I was wondering about when I should have a baby shower...?? I am really torn because it is close to after the holidays. So I am not sure if I should do it a couple weeks before I am due and run the risk I might deliver early(which I highly doubt, never went into labor on my own) or if I should have it before Thanksgiving but that just seems really early to me. Any suggestions would really help. Thanks...oh and what is your take on having it at a restaurant? My place isn't big enough and the friend that I think will probably set it all up lives a bit further than everyone that would probably come. Just wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks

I'm due January 17 and I'm planning on having my baby shower mid-October..

January sounds good.... people are busy with the holidays and spend lots of money on their families.

I was due with my first feb 4th and my shower was in january, which i think is pushing it, i was so nervous about getting everything together on time.

I think early November is good!

See that is what I am afraid of.. Not to be greedy but I don't want to plan something right after the holidays and not have a good turn out b/c everyone is broke. That is why I was thinking early maybe before thanksgiving..i just have no idea...

My shower for my boys was about a month before they were due..but i had their dad to help out with things that and it was in march..I am thinking I am gonna have to do it in Nov. b/c I am doing this all on my own as it is and need plenty of time to get things in order..and by then I will be as big as a whale and won't have the energy to do a whole lot..

so why dont you have after the baby is born and wlecome home party...

b/c I am having to start all over and I don't have anything. I am really not trying to be greedy and expect people to buy everything for me but the help is appreciated. the daddy aint doing nothing and I don't make all that much money to go and buy everything myself..

I hear that i am going to have one after cause i am not goin to find out what i am having but i have friends taht are giving me things left and right before babys even born

yeah I am a little impatient and like to know things in advance so there is no way I can wait til the baby is born to find out the sex. I find out Sept 25 and won't leave the office til the doc sees what I am having. Praying for a girl but will be happy for either..! My twins are almost 6.5 and I have nothing left. I didn't think I would be having another this soon so now I am starting all over..this is rough

Yeah mine daughter is 6.5 and there for i am starting all over also it is really but so worth it....

I'm due Feb 20th, and having mine mid January. I like the idea of having it early, but I was worried about the holidays. My sister works as a restaurant manager and can not take time off during December.
On the plus side of after the holidays, lots of sales!!!! I went to a bridal shower at an Olive Garden once and it was really awesome. A lot of the restraunts have banquet rooms that they will put you in if its during a time they aren't going to have anything else going on. It worked out really well

Oh yeah, I forgot something. First how early is it a good idea to send out invites? Is it tacky to send save the date cards earlier? Even if it is after the holidays, if people know about it soon enough, they will maybe just do their shopping with christmas shopping. Plus keep in mind so many people do the day after Christmas shopping too. And like I said all the sales

But a lot of the after xmas sales are xmas items. I'm sure there are some things on sale but majority of the items on sale are holiday items. If I was to do my shower it would have to be in the middle of Jan but that is just too close to my due date..and depending on how I deliver and when(could be scheduled) I think it will have to be in November..probably towards the beginning. I just don't want it to be caught up in the middle or right after the holidays. Well I suppose I got a couple of months to come up with something..Oh as far as invites..I have no idea. I don't remember when I sent mine out for my boys...When I did in home parties it was always a week or 2 before the event. I just don't know

Now I'm really thinkin about havin it in beginning of December. Still close to Christmas, but not sooo bad, and I would like to make sure I have time to get everything. My other concern is my sister is supposed to get married in January, and that sounds like so much to take care of. But I think late November would be ok for yours.
Anybody else have any idea on when to send out the invites, and are save the date cards tacky???
