Switching formula ugghh!

posted 2nd Aug
So my daughter had been taking the regular good start formula since she was born but she started to spit up really bad with it.. I mean it was ridiculous.. I had to change her clothes and my clothes constantly. She wasnt losing weight from it or anything..it was just a little annoying to have to constantly clean it up. So someone said to try Soy. So she has now been on soy for like 4 days now..And she is VERY constipated, is never hungry, wants to sleep all the time, and is VERY cranky. So I'm figuring that its messing with her tummy bc the digestive system is trying to get used to it...And some ppl tell me to just keep her on it and let her body get used to it. But i don't know...if everything was fine with the regular stuff other than spitting up...Should I just go back to it? I don't know..I don't want to hurt her poor little tummy and I can't decide what I want to do...I just worry about my lil girl and want to do whats right for her...So anyone have any suggestions?

I've had tons of issues with formula. We finally had to go on Nutramagin which costs a freakin arm and a leg. That pretty much cured his constipation and gas, but he still spit up, so now he's on Zantac syrup 2ce a day. If the other formula was working pretty good except for the spitting up, call your doc and see if they might want to put her on Zantac or something. I know it sucks to be constantly cleaning yourself and the baby up....believe me, I've been there!

A friend of mine who had his kid on soy formula told me that it takes up to a month for their tummys to get use the switch from milk. I just recently switched my son from milk to soy based. So I say give it time at least a month and if nothing changes switch her back to milk based or talk to her doctor about it.

Yeah I'm just going to take her to the doctor Monday. But todoay I'm a lil stressed bc she has slept all night and been sleeping all day...but she hasn't ate since 1 a.m. and its now 11:30 a.m. Almost 12 hrs. Is that safe?

My lil girl has been switched from normal enfamil to pregestimil (almost $30 for a little can) and now the doctor has her on nutramagin (it's about $30 every 3 DAYS!!!!) and now they are thinking about switching her to a soy formula=(
what's sad is that she wasn't having any problems on the enfamil, except that ONE TIME after she had her temperatue check from her bottom there was a little tiny bit of blood in her poo and they switched her right then and there=( Part of me honestly thinks it wasn't anything beside her temperature being checked b/c now she has constant diarreha (but isn't loosing any weight, thank goodness!)

But for the constipation my doctor told me to give them like a LITTLE, LITTLE bit of water, it some how helps move things along down there, but the sleepness and everything else i would at least call the nurse hotline to your doctors office and ask them what you should do=( They can at least tell you if it's normal or not, ya know? and that way you don;t ahve to make the trip to the doctors office=0)

I've heard they're not supposed to go more than about 5, but I'm not sure if that's for younger babies. How old is yours? I would wake her up and feed her.

How old is she? My lil' girl will do that every once in a while...she sleeps through the night (about 8-9 hours) without waking up to eat or anything, and sometimes she will sleep longer than that...and she has her days where she is awake all day and then ones where she sleeps all day and she is just now 2 months

My doctor told me that as long as she didn't have a fever of 100 or more than to just let her do what she is doing..

2 1/2 months...she usually eats 6 oz every 5 hours or so. but if i go ahead and feed her then it will just hurt her stomach and she will probably spit it up pretty bad. Idk? I hate that its Saturday and I can't call my doctor.
