Getting your countdown ticker to work in MSN Hotmail
posted 31st Dec
To get your baby ticker to work in hotmail, as will most things Microsoft you should probably login to your account using IE Explorer and then do the following:
1. Click on your "Mail" tab
2. Click on the "options" link (to the right of the Mail tab)
3. Click on "personal signature"
4. You should now see an editable box region. But before you paste in your ticker code, make sure that the "Show rich-text toolbar" is UNchecked. Once the richtext options (i.e. bold, font style, etc.) aren't showing, then paste in the HTML version of the baby-gaga ticker code.
5. Once your ticker code is pasted in, you can now re-check the "show the rich-text toolbar".
6. If you can now see you ticker in the editable box, then you've done it right!
7. All that's left is to click on "OK" to save your changes
Also note that if you can't see your baby ticker being displayed when you receive an email (i.e. you send a test email to yourself), it could be that you haven't got images or HTML content enabled for viewing mail.
To make sure you can see the images, click on the "Mail" tab again, then on the "options" link (far right of the Mail tab), and then on "Mail Display Settings".
Once you are there, make sure that the radio button for "Display Internet Content" is selected.

Hi tried to follow instructions for setting up ticker on hotmail but it would not allow me to uncheck the box marked "show the rich text toolbar" any ideas why?
thanks

Did you manage to see the checkbox or did MSN not display it at all? If you saw the checkbox, was it ghosted (i.e. grayed out so that you can't change it)...?

hi sorry for not explaining properly the rich text box was there and not ghosted ,
but when i clicked on it to uncheck it a dialogue box comes up to say"hiding the rich text tool bar will also remove any rich text formatting from your signature and/or draft messages. Are you sure you want to do this?"
there are two boxes either ok or cancel.
when i click ok a yellow banner appears beneath the MSN logo which says"an error has occured click here to resolve the issue"
when i click on it the previous dialogue box appears but the box won't uncheck.
don't know if this is any clearer?
thanks

OK, to get your ticket ro work on Hotmail, go into a new message and turn off the Rich Text from in there. Then go directly into the options link and into the personal signature. Hope that helps!

I use Hotmail, and I'm having a problem with the Rich Text part. I followed the instructions, but when I go to the personal signature area, all I see is the editable box. I don't see a rich text box anywhere. I can paste the code into the editable box, but then it comes up as code in my emails. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I usually don't have a problem setting up this type of thing.

I'm having problems getting to work in Windows Live Mail. I tried using the different codes but for some reason I can't get it to work right.
I've tried changing the Rich-Text Editor but I can't seem to find it.
Should I change back to the original Hotmail view?
