I was getting some things ready for baby#3 and my 4 years old nephew asked "Auntie how did the baby get into your tummy?" and I was like Ummmmm..... but my 3 yr old daughter jumped in and said, "Duh she ate it"
So have your kids asked questions like this? What do you say?

Hm this is making me think ahead to when Grant will ask me lol. I'll probably just give him the generic Well sweetie when mommies and Daddies love each other Daddy helps mommy put the baby in her tummy where it grows etc that whole thing. Although idk how well that will work considering he's got me and Justin for parents and we were both super inquisitive as smaller children lol

Just tell him the basics, my sister told her daughter who's almost 5 that boys and girls have different parts and they also have different ingredients for making a baby. She equated it to when her daughter was planting seeds and growing a flower at school. The man has the seed and the woman has the dirt and pot, when they put it together it grows into a baby. That was good enough for her. But my 7 year old nephew knows basically the same thing and I told him the baby is in the uterus which is a special place where the baby is cuz if it was in my stomach the food would fall on the baby's head. We've told him all about the umbilical cord and how its your belly button once you leave your mom's tummy. And all the anatomy of the inside where the baby is. The worst was when he asked how the baby got out.My sister decided to show him a video though and he was like Oooooh and I said to him that's why girls have a vagina that's where the baby comes out. Kids don't need to know everything, just the basics work and they understand a lot more then you'd think. The best was my neice and nephew who are both 5 play together and are so cute and I overheard them playing, my neice said lets pretend we have babies in our tummy and when mine is born it's gonna come out my butt. LOL

If my daughter came home one day and said "Auntie told me to ask you where babies came from" I would be like thats it no more visits with Auntie. lol
I didn't think that this topic would come up until she was much older,  Kids these days

Oh man i had to tell my eldest boy about it when i was pregnant 2 yrs ago, and told him the "daddy has a seed, and he puts it in mummies tummy" thing, and then he was like "but HOW does he put it in your tummy..??" i was like "ohh, umm well..." and thought oh just tell him in a non crude way i told him daddy put his winky in my thingy...and put the seed in like that..and......i wanted the ground to swallow me up it was the worst thing to have to say...and he just laughed....and went to play...
then the other day (he is 7 now) he just came out with this out of nowhere "mum? you know when you make a baby and a man outs his winky in a ladies thingy....? i cant do that till im a man can i?" OMG i was like "no honey you have to be a man and it has to be with a lady that you love very much, or a lady you have married...and kids cant do that with their winkies" then he said "and men and men cant do that" OMG it was just never ending it was awful!!!!

I should get him a book!!! it was just the weirdest thing to talk about i felt so un omfortable with him knowing that stuff so maybe 5 was a mistake for me to tell him about it....

I would actually be happy if my sister told my kid to ask me. If my kid asked her where babies come from, I wouldnt want her to tell them. That is a job for parents, not other family members. I wouldnt cut out visits because she told my kid to ask me where babies come from, if my kid asked her first.

No No I was joking if my daughter asked that I would want my sister to tell her the same thing, I was just saying imagine the mothers surprise when her daughter comes home and says "Auntie told me to ask you where babies come from" I just thought was kind of funny, anytime a kid asks something like that it is always a little shocking and a little deer caught in the headlights so to speak. I had the same reaction when my daughter was listening to something my fiance was watching on tv and she asked what a penis was I was like "thats it no more tv"

Ahhhh, ok. Sarcasm is totally lost in forums. Very hard to convey feelings in type.
