I hope I survive...

posted 1st Aug
My daughters first night without the bottle! I laid her down with her sippy about 10 minutes ago, so far no crying! She's 15 months and I know she should've been off at a year. She's off it except the night time one, which is the hardest to break. So tonight is the night to quit! I had my brother hide her only bottle left so that I'm not tempted to give it to her

It's hard, but you sound like you've prepped yourself for it. You both will do fine. I hated taking aways the bottle. After my step-daughter I learned to take it away all at once. No night time bottles if she didn't have it during the day. I learned that the VERY hard way. Good luck, hope you get some sleep tonight.

Last night was easier than I thought! She fussed about 20 minutes but no actual crying. Then this morning she woke up at 6 and fussed after 5 minutes but was over it when she realized she wasn't going to get a bottle. The day time has been the hardest surprisingly since she only got a night time one but I guess she just needs to adjust. I think I will survive this!

Are you just stopping the actual bottle not the milk? and giving her a toddler cup? i tried this last night.... he went mad at first with a toddler cup, he didnt drink the milk and he asked for juice instead, i gave him very watery juice in the cup and he went to sleep. he woke up this morning and again refused the milk in cup and wanted juice again.....he wont drink milk now i think its cos he cant see the white milk in a couloured cup he kept saying "me white moo-moo" (as in- i want white milk- he calls it moo moo) lol so gonna have to look for a see- through toddler cup but they are all coloured ones in shops!!!! AGHHHHHHHHHHH he wont drink milk now WTF??? lol

I stopped both...she goes to sleep by being rocked now. I was worried about stopping the bottle because it was the only thing that my daughter would drink milk out of but I asked my peditrician and he said that by her age (15 months) she should be getting most nutrients from food anyway. But continue to offer milk in a cup and eventually they want it bad enough that they will drink it.
