MY SON HAS A FEVER OR 102.1

I woke my son up at 2 to feed him this morning and he was burning up!!! i took his temp and it was 102.1! i took him to the er and i sat in the damn waiting room for 6 hours before they saw him. They took a 45 year old woman back because she had a tooth ache! i was so pissed!! then they did a spinal tap to see if he had spinal meningits! hes only a week old. Greatfully he doesnt have spinal meningitis....but the doctors still dont know why his fever wont go down....does anyone have a clue why his fever is still in the 100's?? Im so scared and nurvus and angry!!! i dont know what to do HELPPP!!!!

Call your ped. Ask him/her if your baby can have some baby tylenol....I'm sorry they didn't help much!

sorry ass hospital...wtf r they getting paid 4? I am so sorry about your baby though! i would be freaking out. all i know is that u usuallyget fevers when u are fighting off some kind of infection. u gave him medicine and it still wont go down?

Did you test positive for GBS?

My co-worker has a little girl that just started running a fever...on a whim he took a urine sample and she has a raging UTI.

yea i gave him tylonal and motrin and hes still at the hospital in ICU. i came home to get some clothes and shower. my moms there. hes doing okay just the fever wont go away. hes eating good and pooping good . just the damn fever.

i dont think so...no one ever said anything about that to me. ill call my doctor in the morning and ask him. thanks for telling me that!!

MY daughter JUST got over her 103.5 fever a couple days ago. We took her to ER and they said she looked normal just had a really high fever. Gave us tylenol and sent us on our way.

I was positive for GBS when i was pregnant. im pretty sure they wouldve said sumthen to u about it, because if u are positive then u have to get treated with antibiotics during/right beforelabor. usually penicillin is what they use but a lot of ppl are allergic to it (like me) so if u are, they have to know so that they can test u and find another antibiotic that would work. i just think u probably would have known if u did test positive though. but its worth checking into.

They give a hepatits B vaccine before the baby leaves the hospital right? u dont think maybe it could be a reaction to that? idk though it probably would have reacted sooner.

Are there ANY other changes with the baby like difficulty breathing or anything at all? or strictly JUST the fever? I feel so bad for ur child  

Like 2 weeks ao my son had a fever of 105 for 2 days straight and it kept comin back and going away for another week and a half, but those first 2 days, no matter what we did it wouldnt go down, we gave him motrin and tylenol every 4-6 hours, and still nothing. I took him to the doctors the 1st day right away, and he said he had a really bad virus. It was horrible. He was soo sick for 2 weeks. he had a hard time eating and sleeping. The only way he' sleep was if my husband was carrying him and walking around with him. He'd scream if michael was holding him and he tried to lay down or even sit down. That would go on for 2-3 hours til he fell back asleep, only to wake up a couple hours later. It was sooo bad. He's 20 months old tho. I can only imagine if he was a newborn and was that sick. This was the 1st time he was ever sick, he's never even had an ear infection, so he didnt know how to handle it, neither did I lol. Sometimes tho theirs nothing you can do for them, and I hate that feeling!

OMG hope he gets better I have no ideal. I would be a nervous wreck too. Hope you find out and your lil one is ok. That sucks they made that lil baby wait due to a tooth ache fucking hospitals.......sorry bout my language but that pisses me off.
When I very first got pregnant my first pregnacy in 2001, I had a misscarrage. I was 3 months. They made me wait in the waiting room for 8 hours til my mother made them take me back.
