I'm not sure what this is, but I have HPV, the cancer cell kind, not the STD kind, I can't pass it on to anyone, and they said it's perfectly fine it won't harm my baby. So, I'm thinking if it's some some cancer or abnormal cells, it should be okay.

You will have a colposcopy, which means they'll take samples from inside and get a closer look with a microscope.  It's uncomfortable, but extremely common.  It's best to get it taken care of and your doctor wouldn't do the procedure if it was dangerous to your baby.  Look up HPV posts and you'll find tons more information!  If you have any other questions, let me know!

Yeah its normal. I have it too. My doctor told me alot of females have the cells while pregnant. My doctor told me to come back six weeks pp and he'll check me and if i still have it then they'll start to take action but as of now its normal.. I've never had an abnormal pap so if u havent either we possibly have the same thing... Oh yeah my doctor also said it can turn into hpv which is caused from sex but there's nothing you can do to prevent it its not a disease though so i really have no idea LoL hope what my doctor said helps... Sorry i couldnt be more helpful

HPV is an STD.  There are around 100 different strains and sometimes it can go away on its own, but there is no medicine since it is a virus in your blood.  It's nothing to be ashamed of (not saying you are, this is more for Mallory) because 75% of sexually active people contract it.

Mine was formed from abnormal, cancer cells. There is more than one type of hpv, mine is not an std. I can't give it to anybody, ect. Believe me, I've been told more than one time by the doctor, I was freaked, ha.

I was diagnosed at 16 (9 years ago!) and my doctor also told me that I was not giving it to people.  However, HPV is an STD, no matter what strain you have:

Most people with HPV do not develop symptoms or health problems. But sometimes, certain types of HPV can cause genital warts in men and women. Other HPV types can cause cervical cancer and other less common cancers, such as cancers of the vulva, vagina, anus, and penis. The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types that can cause cancer.
HPV types are often referred to as “low-risk” (wart-causing) or “high-risk” (cancer-causing), based on whether they put a person at risk for cancer. In 90% of cases, the body’s immune system clears the HPV infection naturally within two years. This is true of both high-risk and low-risk types.

I've done years of research to learn about this as so many of my friends have been affected.  As of today, my paps are normal and I have no sign of HPV!  So yes, it can go away, but there are no meds.

Eh. Well he told me as long as I don't have warts then they don't classify it as an STD. Maybe that's just my doctor or something haha.

Some doctors might not classify it as an STD - especially considering how wide-spread it is.  I'd like to believe I wasn't giving it to people all that time

yerah, I was really scared, ha. I kept asking. But he said no, I can't spread it, and he was positive, so not to worry. I still always ask jeff how his pee pee feels, cause I'm scared. But he's obviously not worried about it (He was there when the doctor said the same thing) other wise he would wrap his willy haha.

Years ago my boyfriend was sleeping with a friend of his (he is the only person she has EVER been with and she's 31) and another girl he started to date and his friend contracted HPV (pre-cancerous cells). Clearly it came from my boyfriend because she wasn't with anyone else.

Years ago after I was raped I was told I contracted HPV. Now, this was back in 1989. In 1993, although I had no symptoms, the HPV (warts) turned into cancer of cervix. After they removed over 3/4 of my cervix it took 2-3 yrs for me to be cancer free.

I taught sex education classes and included HPV and here is a website I occassionally use:

http://www.cdc.gov/STD/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm#Whatis

Everyone needs to be informed and prevention is KEY! If you are below the age of 24 and able to, I highly recommend everyone to get the vaccine.

No - dysplasia is directly linked to HPV.  You should be getting an extensive pap at about 16-20 weeks that will test for HIV/AIDS, Herpes, Chlamydia, Ghonnorea, (sp) etc.  Have you noticed any lesions or symptoms?  Have you been tested since being with him?
