quick question...

So my Auntwas just diagnosed withstage 4 cancer and she lives in Texas (and as you all can see I live in NY). So my mother, myBDand I are planning on going down there to see her. So its about a 1600 mi trip and I was wondering which you ladies think would be the cheapest/best way to get there...
1. Bus
2. Air
3. Drive it
4. Rental car
With gas prices the way they are (even though they are going down) I don't know if it would be cheaper to drive. I know that on cheaptickets.com I can get a roundtrip (for 2) for around $500, and the bus is about $388, and renting would be approx. $367 (plus miles and gas). But I also have to take into consideration my car... its in pretty good shape, it has never broken down on me... but we are also looking into getting BD a new car because he just totaled the front-end of his... So, I don't know what do you ladies think???
(Sorry if this is kinda a dumb thing to be asking but thanks in advance for any advise)

I know a train one way there for me was 200, from Chicago. 400 total. Idk how much a bus is, and with gas that's expencive. Rental car you have th rental fee and gas.

We just recently drove 1500 miles from FL.. It cost us $250 in gas (prices were a little higher than they are at the moment).. we have a mazda 3i, it gets about 34 - 39 mpg.. I don't know which way would be the cheapest, but we thought it was going to cost twice as much in gas than it did for us..

So I have definatly ruled out flying! I have searched everywhere...even cheaptickets.com and everything is almost $500 per person! Thats a bit rediculous! I think it would be in our best interest to drive our vehicle down there! Thank you for the info!

I ended up getting tickets to Dallas from Syracuse for $330 a piece. I looked everywhere on the internet and even got them a week in advance.

I'm in Canada so I don't have any answers for you. I just wanted to say that I'm very sorry and I hope she is ok!
