Opinions wanted! :)

posted 31st Jul
I have about 2 months until my due date, but I wanted to really think about this before I have my lil guy. I will be a STHM, and am thinking about going EC or diaper-free when I am at home with my baby. I was wondering if there are any parents out there who have tried this, currently use it, and what your opinions are about it. The pro's I see about it are less time trying to 'potty train' later on in life, less money spent on diapers, and more bonding time with baby. What do you all think?

PS: if you dont know what EC or diaper-free is, here is an informational link

EDIT:: I would really appreciate opinions from moms who have tried this.

I think the whole diaper free theory is a bunch of BS. My kids were potty trained early by most people's standards but to me diaper free ispotty training the parent and the child will still have to potty trained later.

EC is about learning the way your child tries to communicate when they have to go. You teach them to tell you, and in the same way, they are teaching you to take them when they need to go.

I just glanced quickly but the one mentioned right on the front of the site said it was started at 8 mts. So what would you do for the 1st 7 months?

No wayI could do this, you would have to be up during the night all night with my Emily. She is wearing a size 4 pampers crusier (she is 5 mts on the 8th) and it is slap full in the morning (when she makes it thru the night all night sleeping).

I am also ols school. When I took childcare and got mycertificate to open a daycare several years back we learned not to push a child into potty training asmany will have a harder time because they sort of rebel. They said wait until the child showed some interest, so they could and would do it.

This is all JMO.

You dont start until you can figure it out. Some parents dont even start until 6, 7 or 8 months old.

And other cleaning products. It is a bear to try to get baby poop out of clothing, let alone off of the carpet or couch or chair.

I think it only adds to the stress of coping with a new baby and all of the new experiences they bring with them.

What do you do when the baby has the runs. I personally don't think that it will last too long if you can stick to it go for it. You will be better off with cloth diapers. Noone will want to hold your kids if they get a gift everytime

Yep you will be washing your clothing, their clothing their bedding and anything else they may pee or poo on! So you would have to add a lot of cleaning supplies o that too. Just make sure they are fume free. Too many cleaning products can make one sick especially the very young.
