Yuck...Fleas are killing me!!

Does anyone know if there are safe ways to get rid of fleas.  Our cat has been treated with Advantage, but apparently we were too late.  The flea bites are so horribly annoying and keep me up at night with the insane itch.  My husband doesn't have one bite on him, and of course my legs and arms are covered in them.  I'm concerned about flea bombing the house, but was wondering if anyone had any safe remedies for getting rid of the pests.  Also, can flea bites negatively affect my baby or blood stream?  Thanks for any helpful information!

You need to call someone out b4 they get outta control

It is only going to get worse. You need to call someone out, or else you can always try to bomb the house yourself. Even though you have advantage on the cat, that doesn't do anything to the fleas already living/multiplying in your house. Sorry, I know it isn't fun. Had to deal with it last year. Good luck!

My dad used raid bombs. It worked really well. The trick is you have to bomb the house a few times. Like bomb it and then let it air out and vacum the room. Then wait like a day or 2 and bomb the room again and vacum again. Then you should be good. You will be vacuming up the dead fleas and it will give time forr the eggs to hatch which you will have killed them. make sure to take all the clothes out of the room, And shoes and stuff and bedding. And bed. Then let it air out for like a day or 2 after you bomb it. Then just clean the walls and and futrinre really well and you should be good..And give your cat a good bath and put the flea stuff on. There is pill you give to your cat and the fleas die and fall off.

ETA: It kills all other bugs as well.

If you dont want to do that there is flea powder that you put on the carpet. you cant let your cat around it and its not good to breath it because its posion as well. If you decide to go that route then make your husband do it.

Also this might help, once you give your cat a bath brush her with a flea comb. that will get the live and dead fleas off.

A year ago we had a HUGE problem with fleas. Racoons have them and we bring them in on our pants.

I have my cats on Frontline Plus all year round. What I had to do was go to the pest store and get a spray for the house. I sprayed *everywhere* 3x. Once every 2 weeks. I had to wash all the blankets, bedding, all the pillows and toys the cats may have.

It took a good 6 months to get rid of them all. It was awful. Get on it now though because they multiply FAST.

Vets do not suggest flea bathing a cat along with a flea medicine on them.

The OP can bath the cat with regular cat shampoo but nothing medicated. That will just get the dead fleas off.

Yeah my dad just used bombs in all the rooms with carpet. It worked really well for us. Of corse it took about 2 weeks because we would bomb, then vacum and wait a day or two for the eggs to hatch. then bomb and do it again untill the probelm was ended. We washed everything. We took the beds and got them washed with a steam cleaner along with our couches, I sprayed all the other stuff with a good cleaner and we got the carpets steamed cleaned. We havent had a probelm since with fleas. But before the baby comes home we are getting the house sprayed for bugs and stuff.

We give our cats baths a day after the flea medicine wears off. Then we give them a bath in a good cat shampoo and then put the medicine on them when they are complety dry. They are healthy and happy. So...it doesnt borther them

Oh yeah. After the flea medicine wears off that's fine they said. I keep mine on flea medicine all year round now because I'm NOT going through that again. Ugh... it was HORRIBLE. Drove me insane. I still feel like things are crawling on me and it's been a good year since I've had any in the house.
