Cross Nursing

What's your opinion on this?

Personally, I think it's not a big deal...that's what breasts are made for, and if you do your research on the person you're choosing...you won't end up with the problems of communicable diseases and alcohol/drug use.

If I could produce enough milk for my own baby, and another, easily... I wouldn't mind being a wet nurse. I think breast is best, and if I can offer that to another baby who's mother can't do it, I would.

Plus, as an added bonus, I read that you get paid to do it... Some extra cash with a new baby is a very good thing.

For me, I wouldn't do it. But if it works for other people then hey, good for them.

Personally, I feel that our society has preverted the breast into a sex toy, and taken away from the original purpose... feeding babies.

I wouldn't feel odd at all letting someone else nurse my child from the breast, or nursing someone else's... As long as they aren't like 8 years old.

and i dont think that it would be fair to nurse another child off of myself...but i had plenty of milk...even an excessive amount when i was nursing my son and ive already started leaking with this baby...so hopefully there will be plenty of milk for her also!

i can agree with the fact that...yes, it is intended for feeding infants. but multi purpose. it is also sexual. i think mature ppl can separate a time for the two.

but there is this to think of...every mothers breast milk is different and changes from what ive heard day to day if needed to be specifically perfect for their childs nutritional needs. kind of natures way of making it designed for one child alone.

I've read about that, and as longas the infants are close enough in age, it's fine...

So for those of you who said you would never let your child bf off of another woman's breast, what if you were in the situation that some of the Chinese women were right after the earthquake? Some of the bfing mothers couldn't produce anything because of the shock of the whole thing, so a female police officer, who had an infant of her own, nursed (I think, but don't quote me) an additional 15 babies that were not hers so that these children could be fed. If you were one of the women who's milk wasn't there from the shock of such an event, would you still be so opposed?

oh wow...i didnt know that.
i dunno...aybe its due to my own personal hangups...i have a lot of body issues as is and soooo do not feel like i will be comfortable feeding my own when shes here, but want truly want to for her health. just..the idea of it...ive never looked at my body for what its intended for so its a big change. so the idea of someones elses child is unthinkable to me. but that could be age or experience. i keep hearing once you feed your child it just feels natural.

I'd breastfeed another baby and wouldnt feel gross for doing it. I think if a mother is unable to nurse and someone else is willing to nurse for them, thats a wonderful thing.
