My SIL she has a 3 month old when he was 2 weeks old she started feeding him cereal by mouth (like with a spoon) she didnt believe in feeding it to him through a bottle because she believes it would be harder to wein them. Now she is feeding him milk from a jug.. is that good for them.? i mean is it good for her to do that when he is 3 months old i dont know if she is still feeding him formula or not.. i had to ask cause i dont know
Not sure about the milk,,.. but i agree with feeding from the spoon and not the bottle.. it also teaches then to eat off a spoon when they are eating food.. Its alittle soon to be doing it that early, but if the baby wasnt getting enought from the fromula, then ceral is ok...i did that with my 2nd daughter, and she turned out great!!!
Quoting Momma&MarineWife:“ She's feeding him cow's milk already?? He's way too young,no cows milk until 1 year!”
I agree! That could be very bad for a child under the age of one to be ingesting cows milk! She needs to stop that now! Granted its much cheaper than formula, but that's really scary! I'm surprised she is being so ignorant- she should know better, and if not, please tell her its not good for baby!!!!!!
Why do you think so many of our parents generation have so many health issues that are weight related? This is one of the reasons why, their drs recommended doing this sort of thing (I know in my baby book I got mashed potatos at like 2 months old!). All a baby needs is breastmilk in the first year of life, and if a mother is not able to breastfeed, formula should suffice. No solids are even *needed* until after a year of age on a regular basis so yes, she is doing something that is not only potentially harmfull in the short term, but in the long term as well.
Absolutely not. a infant should not be drinking whole milk until 1 years of age. The rice cereal I wouldnt be to concerned with if he/she is digesting it well.
