ive had PCOS for 3 1/2 years and seriously thought i would never get pregnant and have to live with the horrible pain for ever (because they wouldnt remove my second ovary considering i hadn't had a baby ... i had my right ovary removed @ 1  after basically giving up, i decided to go on the depo shot as a last resort and wouldn't you know it, we concieved my son (who is due on 10/0  the day after i got the shot... basically the only thing that my doc ever told me to do get pregnant was lose weight (which i did.. i lost 180 pounds!) and eat alot of broccoli? im not sure why that would do anything...but yeah. i wish i could be of more help, i just wanted you to know, miracles happen every single day and i know that you will get yours too :]

hey there... NO i don't have PCOS, but one of my good friends does. i know that it's very hard for her, she has to take medication that makes her gain weight and get more acne than she already does (she's in her early 30s btw). she's been married for awhile now, she has a four-year-old son. but i do know that she was trying for AWHILE, and the doctors thought there was no way she would get pregnant... but eventually she did : ]
good luck!

Hey Chan, I have a son and 3 m/c with PCOS and am pregnant with my2nd babyand i'll tell ya what works for me. If you can find a fertility specialist that will help that's what helped me the most. We don't surge like most women and when we do its very sporatic, first question is are you periods long or non existant? I have non existant and here's what we did to get pregnant. I went on Provera (progesterone) to get my cycle and then on day 5 of my cycle I took clomid which is a low cost fertility med with low rate of multiple births it mostly causes you to ovulate, TTC after having a follicular ultrasound on day 14 to make sure I had a burst follicle and then got pregnant with my son this way first attempt. 2nd baby we did the same thing for months in a row and it messed so bad with my emotions I went off for 3 months and I guess it jump started my ovulation cuz I got pregnant on my own. This works really well though and then once I was pregnant I had to have my progesterone levels monitored because it would drop at about 7 weeks pregnant and I would m/c so I had to go on shots til out of the 1rst trimester. Definately find a good specialist though because every person's PCOS is different and you might be easier to treat or harder. Good luck I hope this helped!

I was never able to predict my ovulation without meds to make me ovulate, I am one of those that doesn't ovulate or get a period for up to 6 months at a time so its different for everyone and it seems even with meds I ovulate really late. This baby I had like a 41 day cycle so I am not even really sure when we conceived except for the EDD that the doc gave me. So I am not sure about the Basal Temp because I was never able to figure it out with my weird cycle. If your cycle is regular then I wonder if its just missing ovulation and you could jump start it with clomid. Sad thing with me is that they didn't diagnose me with PCOS til I had 3 m/c and they considered it to be a pattern of m/cs by then and knew something was wrong. They are really not equipped to help PCOS sufferers only fertility specialists are and sadly in the USA they don't cover infertility with my insurance. We just got our tax return and its going to my 1400 dollar bill for all the medication and stuff that didn't work to get me pregnant but I am greatful none the less that it wasn't any higher. My doc tried to see if the ovulation testers would work to see if I was ovulating but it didn't ever go positive when it should've because I was a late ovulater.

Definately let me know, I am sorry you have to go through this too. Its something that I would never wish on my worst enemies but I love to be able to share my experience and give those hope that it is possible to have babies with no problems. I figure with all that I go through with having babies means I apreciate them so much more when I get them. My miracle babies. It seems stress definately hinders it but yeah you will need a little jump start to get pregnant too.

I know what you are going through..and you shouldnt give up hope!...I concieved 2 beautiful boys without any intervention! Though it probably wont make you feel much better knowing that it took me many years (4 and then 5 to be exact..)..but I just recently found out I was preggo with #3 (without even trying!)..and only after a few months!...but this time with a littleintervention of course..(but UNKNOWN TO ME!!!)..But it just might be worth a try...

Here is a lil bit of my story...I found out I had PCOS when I was pregnant with my first son at the age of 19...believe it or not I probably would of had a baby at the age of 16 if it werent for my PCOS. You see I was an inner city kid and at time (mid-90's) and all my friends around me were having kids...needless to say I was surrounded by a bunch of teenage moms and craved one of my own..I was with my boyfriend at the time for 4 years already (never using protection)..and I never got pregnant...I went through such a severe depression of thinking I would never be able to have children...I had always been "irregular" sometimes having only 5 periods a year...but i was always told by the doctor it was probably just stress. Early on I was put on birth control to help regulate my period, but I of course wanted a baby so they always went in the trash..long story short it took me 5 months before I went to see a doctor or even took a pregnancy test..and it was all because of someone commenting on my belly...someone asked me if I was pregnant..but me...I thought i was just getting fat!!! It was then I decided to take a pt and it came out positive...i couldnt believe it!!...I mean I had been with my "man" for over 4 years and NOTHING!!!..All in the same day I went to the doctor for a blood test to confirm my pregnancy becuase I still didnt believe it!...The doctor was very concerned and wanted to know why I wated so long to come in after missing my period for 5 months!...I just told her that that was "normal" for me!...well she said that wasnt normal...and could be dangerous!...of course I was freeking out!...they sent me right away to have an u/s to confirm my dates and a beautiful baby boy popped out on the screen...I still think I felt like I was in a dream at this point....well after that it was confirmed that I had PCOS..but at that time I was never given any treatment options..just bc to help with my hormones..but since I was told that PCOS was the leading cause of infertility and was told how lucky I was to of have concieved but that I may have secondary infertility, well...I immediatly started to try for another....5 1/2 years later I was blessed with boy #2!!!....Then....5 years again of trying for a 3rd...still nothing...my relationship went sour and I split after 14 years with the father of my boys...a year went by..without any sex (lol)..and earlier this year I am happy to say that I have found my soul mate....a few months into the realationship we started having unprotected sex...in May I finally went to see a doctor about my "condition" my concern wasnt about having children though, but about losing weight..and I had heard about people with PCOS using Metformin for losing weight..I was given a prescription of 1000mg/twice daily...after 3 months I lost over 30 lbs and my periods were back on track!!! woo-hoo!..Then August comes and I have sort of a "weird' period..(came early, lasted only 3 days and not as heavy as usual...)...woke up the morning of 9/16 (one day before my period was due..) and got very sick while riding a bus...of course I am the type of person who never "throws up" so my first thought was OMG could I be pregnant?? No Way!...it takes me YEARS to concieve...and I've only been with man for7 months! (unprotected sex for 4)...Well...I took a test and sure enough it came out POSITIVE!!!...Come to find out....METFORMIN has not only been helping women with PCOS lose weight...but helping them to concieve too!!!...Thank god I've always wanted more children..and THANK GOD...I am in LOVE with this man and it wasnt just a "fling"..then again if it was I would of been using "protection"...but dayum if I had know then what I had known now...I would have tried this meathod a long time ago!...

so...dont mean to drag it out...I am actually currently writing up my own story of PCOS because I know that horrible feeling of thinking I would never have children...or even that my oldest would be an only child...but I just wanted you to hear my story and I hope that it would give you hope and reassurance ..so you already know that you can concieve without any assistance but as you know without any "intervention" it could beemotionally and physically draining and avery difficult thing to put you and your partner through...so I suggest talking to your doctor about Metform. Not only as a method of ttc but alot of us women whom suffer from PCOS use this medication as a treatment of PCOS. Have your hormone and gloucoselevels tested again and if you are found to have increased levels of insulin then you should definetly be put on Metformin..because without it you are technically doing harm to your body....as im sure you've been told before if you are not having a period. that is not good as it can lead to uterine cancer among other things..and high levels of insulin can result in type II diabetes...so doso to assist in the health of your body...and just concider it a bonus if you happen to get pregnant because of it!!!...because Metformin just helps to get your hormones and insulin levels back to a "normal state"...which intern makes your body/overies work the way they are supposed to work...and being back to "normal" will help make everything work the way it's supposed to ..and that means you probably wont have the same problems ttc!...take it from me!!

Good luck!!.. and I'll keep you and your family in my prayers!
