My son is 5 and he loves batman. He really wants to see the batman movie, but I dont know if it would be appropriate for him. He really likes scary movies also. I was just wondering what everyones opinion on taking him to see it would be.

I heard it was far too violent for kids. & theres a lot of fighting and blood.

I'm going to see it tomorrow with my bf.

there wasnt a lot of cussing but some vilonce and there was no nudity.

Really you dont see much blood or anything. In fact i dont remember seeing any.

I think i would take him. I mean yeah there are some shooting scences and a few times joker puts a knife to some faces. But nothing really bad.

Don't take him. I was really scared and I'm 26.

I would personally wait...theres alot of "too mature" stuff in there for a 5 year old

Its not like the comics, its twisted and sick and made to be disturbing even to adults. I wouldn't recommend anyone under 12 seeing it. You could rent him some of the older batman movies which follow the story he might be familiar with, but its really not meant for any kids  

It's REALLY gory. I was grossed out and disturbed by some parts. Definitley not for a five year old.

I would say definitely no. It's a pretty dark movie, not to mention that The Joker gave many of my ADULT friends nightmares. :-D Plus there were a lot of parts that got loud all of a sudden and when we went to see it there were 3 or 4 smaller kids in the audience and they started freaking out.

Thanks for the replies you ladies are quick. I just hate to always tell him no about these cool movies he sees advertised. I heard it wasnt that bad with the language and nudity, thoes were my 2 main worries. Ill just watch this a little longer to see if it can help me decide.

Although there wasn't a large quantity of cussing or blood, I wouldn't take him. Not at five, at least. It's nothing like the comic books. Much much more violent and creepy. I'm eighteen and I had nightmares.

I wouldnt my DH is the biggest comic book geek in the world so my 4 yr old takes a likeing to all the spiderma/superman/batman movies. He wanted to go when he heard daddy was going to see it and then he saw the commercial and said it was too scary he didn't wanna go. I do think you know your child best but I would suggest rent it when it comes out on dvd preview it yourself and then decide.

there may not have been a lot of blood, but there was a lot of gun fights, blowing people up, they guy with only half a face ( and that was very scarry, and graphic), and the joker was way scarry too.

Like I said, I haven't seen it, I was just told certain things. But other people are saying they did see blood ... and its gory, personally I wouldn't take a 5 year old to see it, but again I haven't even seen it yet.

my 6 year old neice loved it.
